The drug 'Diuver'. Instructions for use of the drug

The drug "Diuver" (instructions for use which contains information on the main directions of action of the drug) is now quite often used by patients on their own, and is prescribed by doctors.

The active substance of the drug is torasemide (analogue of furosemide).

In which case is the drug "Diuver" prescribed?

Instructions for use indicate the following indications for the use of this drug: the presence of edema syndrome of any etiology (including the genesis of heart failure, as well as pathology of the lungs, liver and kidneys). The effectiveness of the drug in the elimination of edema has been proven by ongoing studies. In addition, with arterial hypertension, the use of Diuver is also indicated. The tablets are quickly absorbed in the digestive tract, and within half an hour after their intake, the expected effect begins to develop.

The list of contraindications to the use of this drug is as follows:

  • allergy to sulfa drugs ;
  • renal failure, anuria ;
  • hypokalemia, as well as hyponatremia;
  • hepatic coma;
  • hypovolemia;
  • disorders in the excretion of urine (pathology of the urethra, adenoma, and others);
  • glycoside intoxication;
  • acute glomerulonephritis;
  • pathology from the cardiovascular system (cardiomyopathy in hypertrophic form, mitral and aortic stenosis in the decompensation phase);
  • high content of urate in the urine;
  • lactose intolerance.

It is also worth noting that the drug "Diuver" (instructions for using the medicine is required to study) is not recommended for persons under eighteen years of age and women during pregnancy and lactation.

As you have noticed, the drug contains a huge number of contraindications, but this does not detract from its effectiveness in eliminating edema of various etiologies.

There is also a list of side effects that may develop with Diuver. Instructions for use describe each of them in detail. The most important: a fall in blood pressure, collapse, orthostatic hypotension, arrhythmia, oliguria, hematuria, hearing impairment (usually reversible) and various skin manifestations (urticaria, pruritus). Such a number of different side effects requires mandatory monitoring of the patient's condition after prescribing the drug. However, side effects develop extremely rarely (especially severe forms), mainly the manifestation of such reactions is reduced to typical (headache, epigastric pain, as well as various skin manifestations of allergic genesis).

The dosage is prescribed by the attending physician; it is also described in the instructions for the Diuver preparation. The description of the dosage regimen is determined by the immediate cause that led to the need to use the drug.

The medication begins with one tablet per day (5 mg of the drug) and then the dosage is increased until the desired effect is achieved. The dose of the drug can be increased to 20 mg (and in some cases 40 mg) per day. With arterial hypertension, the initial dose of the drug is 2.5 milligrams once a day. In the case when this dosage of the drug is not enough, you can increase the dose to five milligrams.

Thus, the Diuver drug is currently being actively prescribed if the patient has edema (problems with the water balance in the body). Numerous contraindications are not a deterrent when prescribing a pharmaceutical product, but only cause the need for consultation with a specialist (self-medication is unacceptable) and medical control during treatment.
