Each national cuisine has dishes that are well known to compatriots, but little known to residents of other countries. For example, most Russians do not even realize that quesadilla is not a womanβs name or the name of a city, but very popular Mexican food. To close this knowledge gap, you need to get more information about this dish.
Interesting to know
There is an opinion that Mexican cuisine is always something sharp and certainly exotic. In part, this statement is true. Indeed, the locals simply adore dishes such as tacos, fajitos, enchiladas and tamale, the taste of which for untrained gourmets can really seem burning. It is in this category that the famous quesadilla belongs. This dish represents the fusion of two cultures: Spanish and Native American. Long before the advent of European conquerors on the American continent, the diet of local residents consisted mainly of the simplest foods: corn, beans, tomatoes, chili, and Mexican cactus. The Spaniards added meat, butter, wine and cheese to them. Over time, they all formed the basis of a variety of dishes, one of which is the popular quesadilla. These are, in fact, ordinary national tortillas with tortilla filling.

They are baked in advance, and then used as the main semi-finished product. This dish has many varieties that differ among themselves precisely in the composition of the fillings used. Nevertheless, quesadilla is a product in which two main components must be present: tortilla and cheese. Using the rest of the ingredients is the embodiment of the fantasies and taste preferences of local chefs.
Classic recipe
Traditional quesadillas are wheat or corn tortilla (tortilla) and hard cheese. In cooking, such a recipe is considered basic or classic. To prepare such a dish, you will need: 2 fresh tortillas and 50 grams of cheese.
If national flat cakes are not available, then they can be prepared independently or replaced with thin Armenian pita bread. Next, you must perform the following steps:
- Grate the cheese on a coarse grater, and then spread on the surface of one tortilla.
- Gently place the second cake on top.
- Place the structure in a pan greased with butter and fry on both sides.
After this, the finished product must be divided into 4 parts. To do this, you can use a knife for cutting pizza. Quesadillas are usually served hot with hot salsa sauce. If it is not, then you can use ordinary ketchup, adding a little onion, pepper, garlic and fresh herbs to it. And those who are not a supporter of burning tastes can be content with ordinary sour cream.

Feast of taste
Each culinary specialist decides for himself how to cook quesadilla. There are dozens of different fillings, among which you can choose the right option for yourself. Take, for example, a recipe that uses the following components: a glass of grated cheese, 2 thin pita bread (if there is no tortilla), jalapeno pepper, a teaspoon of butter, and Β½ cup canned corn, cut into pieces of bell pepper and beef fillet ( you can take minced meat).
Work, as usual, begins with the filling:
- All products with the exception of cheese and pita bread must be fried in a dry pan.
- After this, the mass must be transferred to a clean plate and covered with a lid so that it does not cool down before time.
- Put the pan on the fire and close its bottom with one pita bread.
- Sprinkle it with cheese, and on top of one side place half the cooked filling. The second part must be left for another portion.
- As soon as the grated cheese begins to gradually melt, lavash should be folded in half. Under the influence of heat, both sides quickly stick together.
The same procedure must be done with the second pita bread.
