Lovely Bones is a heavy drama, which is an adaptation of the novel of the same name written by Alice Seabold. The film was released in 2009 and received very good reviews. Which is not surprising, since the film is really strong.
Plot
From the first minutes, the viewer is introduced to a girl named Susie Salmon, who lives in a small town in Pennsylvania with her parents, younger sister and brother. The girl is a happy teenager. With dreams, plans, a good soul and a loving heart.
But literally a few minutes after the start of the film, Susie shocked the viewer with a phrase - she was killed in early December 1973. The person who did this to her is George Harvey. Absolutely not suspicious at first glance, a man living in the house opposite. Even pretty - in big glasses and with a mustache of wheat. He is a wagonman, making dollhouses for children. It also grows amazingly beautiful roses. It was he who killed Suzy, and also abused her.
But the girl did not die. The film says - a person dying, does not leave, does not disappear and does not dissolve. He continues to live in another world. So did Susie - she watches her loved ones, her lover, whom she was never able to meet, wishing that George Harvey would be punished.
The image of the killer
The fierce criminal is played by Stanley Tucci. George Harvey, as it later becomes clear during the plot of the film, killed not only Susie, but also the woman who rented the house, and other little girls. It's horrible. The smallest of them was six years old. George Harvey clearly has mental problems. Committing a crime, he lives for a long time, remembering the moment of the murder of an innocent victim. But then desire takes over him again. And he is looking for a new victim.
The next was to be Lindsay Salmon - Susie's younger sister. She, like the girl’s father, feels that Harvey is the killer. And he decides to get even with a too-cunning lady. From that moment, by the way, about two years have already passed. Suzy has been between two worlds all this time and is watching her loved ones. The girl’s father and brother even sense her presence.
By the way, police come to Harvey. He behaves quite adequately. He manages to remove the bloodied shoes and clothes, throw on the table an open magazine and a plate of cookies, even sprinkled sugar - allegedly had breakfast. No one has any suspicion. He forgot, perhaps, to remove the bracelet with Susie's pendants - the “trophy”, which he kept for himself. But the police do not notice this detail, and George Harvey manages to quietly throw it into his pocket.
Actor play
The film is good for everyone. The fact that it has a mass of successfully prescribed details that the viewer manages to consider. Acting game. The composition is excellent - played by Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon, Saoirse Ronan, Rose Macaware. Separately, it is worth noting the game Stanley Tucci. He does have to be a "double" actor in the film. Being in society, he seems to be a pretty and extremely polite man with a good-natured smile. Alone with Suzy, he shows off all his “devils” released from the pool. When you look at Stanley in the role of Harvey, it seems that this is really a real mentally abnormal killer rapist. Behavior, facial expressions, intonation - everything is perfectly designed for the image. Therefore, it is better to watch the film in the original.
Denouement
The film holds the viewer in intense tension. It is impossible not to experience empathy, pain, sadness, anger and aggression while watching it. The viewer really sympathizes with the heroes. And she wants the killer the same as Susie - punishment. And it comes. Do not escape punishment George Harvey.
The film ends very well and dynamically. Lindsey finds proof of the neighbor’s guilt - sneaks into the house and discovers "Suzy's Murder Diary." Police arrive at the scene, but Harvey has already fled. In the end, when he tried to lure another victim under the pretext of giving her a lift, an icicle falls on him - it’s winter in the yard. Harvey rubs his shoulder and suddenly loses his balance. The killer falls on the rocks and crashes to death.
