The Russian State Theater "Satyricon" bears the name of the greatest Soviet actor Arkady Raikin. Indeed, in this theater there is a special story connected with this name, full of vivid and dramatic events closely connected with the history of Russia.
History of the theater
The birthplace of this theater is the city, then bearing the name Leningrad (and earlier and now - St. Petersburg). The time of birth is the eve of the Great Patriotic War. It was then called the theater of miniatures, and it was created and headed by the most popular in those years Arkady Raikin. He carried out not only the artistic direction of the new theater, but also played there as a leading actor. During the Second World War, the theater performed a lot in front of the fighters, and many of the front-line soldiers saw directly the numbers of Arkady Raikin, subsequently known throughout the country. When the war ended with the victory of the Soviet troops, the theater began a new era of constant western touring. Only closer to the end of the USSR, in 1982, the Miniature Theater moved to the capital of the country and received the status of state.
Modernity
In 1987, the creator and the artistic director died, and his brainchild received a new name - the Russian State Theater “Satyricon” named after Arkady Raikin. He continued his work, still presenting to the public a satirical and humorous repertoire, but the theater was no longer limited to a similar genre. The Satirikon Theater was located in Moscow on Sheremetyevskaya Street, in the premises of the closed cinema "Tajikistan", having received two halls for work.

For several decades, this creative team has been under the leadership of the son of its outstanding creator, no less well-known to young generations of theatergoers, K. Raikin. A relentless creative search, a desire to find new forms, an indifferent attitude to the profession and people, both actors and spectators, complete dedication is what distinguishes Konstantin himself and his artists. All this makes every new performance offered to the public by the Arkady Raikin Satirikon Theater a notable cultural event on a national scale, and the theater itself is truly a cultural heritage of the country and one of the capital’s most visited and beloved theaters.
Both the performances themselves and the individual actors of his troupe were awarded multiple prizes, titles and honorary awards. The leader himself, K. A. Raikin, bears honorary titles, has many awards and prizes in the field of theatrical art.
As for the audience of the Satyricon theater, it is vast and multi-layered - from very elderly spectators who often prefer a proven classical repertoire to young and young theater guests who constantly choose performances that are unusual, innovative.
Repertoire
As once many spectators came to the theater of miniatures for the sake of the opportunity to see Arkady Raikin himself, today too many come to Satyricon to see the play of his son, Konstantin, the director and the permanent leader of this theater. The solo performances “Evening with Dostoevsky” and “His Voice” are extremely popular with the viewer.
Each spectator who comes to the Arkady Raikin Satirikon Theater will enjoy a virtuoso performance of Konstantin Raikin himself, accompanied by live music from a small orchestra. Raikin, as in his very young years, is full of strength, thirst for play, shows pirouettes of his famous plasticity and one takes the audience an hour and a half of a one-man show.

The second one-man show, dedicated to what Dostoevsky means for our culture, which represents the Satyricon Theater named after Arkady Raikin, also receives the most favorable reviews. In addition to the “entertaining” part, it includes the brilliant monologue of Konstantin Raikin, which represents the concentration and transposition of the most important thoughts and quotes from the works of F. M. Dostoevsky. Viewers note that a truly innovative offer to each audience to rethink the work of the great Russian classic, coupled with the great acting of the actor, also attracts a very large number of spectators rushing to the box office of the Satyricon.
One of the theater’s most successful repertoire proposals by the public is Richard III, which is not only deservedly awarded, but also loved by almost all Russian theatergoers and regularly receives the best reviews.
The performances “King Lear” and “Money” can compete with the audience in love with him. The play “The Blue Monster” is highly demanded by the viewer. Of the last, “Once in the Village ...”, staged by Elena Butenko-Raikina, this production is for the youngest spectators. Undoubtedly, the upcoming premiere of “London Show” awaits success - a new reading of Pygmalion "
Future plans

Upon completion, not only the building itself will be repaired, but also all equipment will be modernized, the latest developments of all engineering systems will be introduced, which will significantly expand the functionality and improve the quality of the performances themselves, introducing new opportunities into them.
