Sinusitis: treatment at home, but with medication

Untreated or transferred colds on the legs are often fraught with complications, one of which is inflammation of the sinuses or sinusitis. Treatment at home, and even more so an attempt to solve the problem with painkillers or regular drops in the nose, can only aggravate the disease and drive it into a chronic form.

Symptoms of sinusitis

The cause of the disease is inflammation of the sinus mucosa, which, in turn, prevents the natural passage of mucus and bacteria. Allergic reactions, polyps in the nasal cavity, injuries, infections of various origins can provoke the disease. As a result of swelling of the inflamed tissue, the contents accumulated in the sinuses can acquire a purulent form, press on the walls of the vessels, causing intolerable headaches, pain in the eyes, dizziness, shortness of breath, depression. Pain can be felt on the face, in the ears, and even in the teeth - in a word, everything hurts, nothing helps. Accumulation of mucus in the maxillary sinuses interferes with breathing, often causing an unpleasant, putrid odor from the nasopharynx.

How to treat sinusitis

Treatment at home is quite possible if this was preceded by a visit to the doctor, and complex treatment was prescribed. It is complex, since one procedure or one drug can not remove the symptoms.

antibiotic sinusitis
For example, a ten-day course is often prescribed, which includes the following drugs:

  • Sinupret is a herbal preparation in tablets or drops.
  • "Diclofenac" - injection.
  • "Polydex" - a spray for the nose.
  • Augmentin (375) or Amoxiclav are antibiotics.

Sinusitis can be treated with folk remedies, preferably combining them with medication. But more about that below. Continuing the conversation about medicines, it should be emphasized that antibiotics for the treatment of sinusitis are necessary if the disease is provoked by a bacterial infection. To find out, you need to go through all the tests prescribed by your doctor. When taking antibiotics, we must not forget about the threat of dysbiosis, you must definitely connect any prophylactic, such as “Hilak-forte” or “Linex”. With difficult discharge of pus and mucus from the sinuses - and most often it happens - doctors recommend the very strong Sinuforte. These are drops that can be dripped only 1 time per day in very small doses.

The drug acts very aggressively, literally causing suffering. But these unpleasant sensations disappear a few minutes after the use of the product, but it "breaks through" the congestion in the sinus with guarantee. And now about how improvised means to defeat sinusitis.

Treatment at home with folk remedies

As already mentioned, it is better to combine home treatment with drug treatment. But which folk remedies and procedures are the most effective and affordable? First of all, this is a frequent washing of the nasal passages with saline solutions and decoctions of herbs: chamomile, coltsfoot, sage. To do this, you can use a syringe without a needle or a special kettle with a thin nose. The procedure must be done over the sink, tilting the head to the side so that the fluid flows into one nostril and flows out of the other. Then you need to change position. It would be nice before that to inhale hot steam over a decoction of herbs, hiding with a towel. There is another remedy that is comparable in action to the mentioned Sinuforte preparation: mix fresh garlic juice with liquid honey in equal parts and drip this mixture one drop into each nasal passage once a day. Of course, it will burn to pain, but as a result, the purulent plug goes away, the most stubborn sinusitis recedes faster. Treatment at home involves, among other things, warmth and peace, and patience. Suddenly this misfortune cannot be dealt with. Leaving her unattended means incurring even worse woes.
