Is frigidity a disease?

Frigidity is, in other words, sexual coldness, which is a decrease or complete absence in women of sexual desire, orgasm and specific sexual sensations. In some cases, frigidity may be accompanied by discomfort or even a complete aversion to sexual intercourse.

For 40% of women, frigidity is a very serious problem, which manifests itself in various forms. Some women avoid sex because of unpleasant sensations, others may experience weak pleasant sensations, but at the same time do not get an orgasm. Frigidity is a condition that manifests itself periodically or continuously. A correct diagnosis can only be made by a sexologist after a woman has undergone a thorough examination by specialists such as a gynecologist, endocrinologist, psychologist, etc. All this will help identify the physiological causes of frigidity and hidden psychological factors.

Frigidity: symptoms

The main symptom is a lack of desire to engage in sexual contact, as well as a lack of manifestation of various sexual reactions.

As a rule, frigidity is a condition caused by several reasons at once, divided into somatic, psychological and social. They may be accompanied by depression, mental breakdowns and psychoses.

In addition, frigidity is primarily manifested in increased modesty, suspiciousness, indecision, a tendency to focus on negative emotions.

Very often frigidity can be caused by mental injuries associated with pain during defloration, when trying to rape. A woman may have a fear of becoming pregnant or a fear of publicizing a relationship. The lack of orgasm also causes psychological trauma and is one of the main causes of frigidity. Moreover, often a woman does not get an orgasm due to a disorder of the nervous system. When excited, the nerve impulse does not reach the desired part of the brain and, accordingly, muscle contraction and orgasm do not occur. In some cases, the impulse breaks off due to constant experiences and fears that cause a certain kind of psychological closure.

In addition to psychological, there are physiological causes of frigidity, expressed, as a rule, in the defeat of certain parts of the brain, ovarian dysfunction. Very often physiological frigidity is caused by gynecological and venereal diseases, vitamin deficiencies, and very strong physical or mental fatigue. In some cases, the occurrence of frigidity is associated with congenital pathology of the genital organs and inflammatory diseases.

After considering all the factors, a logical question arises: how to cure frigidity? This disease, like any other, requires treatment. If physiological disorders are identified, it is necessary to eliminate them with the help of a course of treatment prescribed by a doctor. Basically, the course of treatment is quite long, and very often both sex partners are treated simultaneously. The range of methods used is quite wide: from acupuncture and physiotherapy to medical and psychological methods.

During treatment, the patient’s personal communication with the attending physician is very important. There should be complete confidence in the specialist and a sincere desire to be cured. During the treatment, various simulators can be used: with their help, you can accurately determine the woman’s ability to control her body, in particular, to relax the vaginal muscles at the right time. All these skills will help her in the future to come into a normal psychological state during intercourse.

Thus, it is very important for any woman to timely recover from frigidity. After all, everyone knows that an unstable and inferior sexual life has an extremely negative effect on a woman’s body and can lead to various somatic diseases.
