Before the rock group "Leprikonsy" announced itself in 1996, Ilya Mitko - her leader - worked in the music group Kindergarten. There he was a vocalist, but the singer did not succeed in fully realizing it. The group broke up, and Ilya assembled a new team and called it “Leprikon. This name appeared when the guys-musicians watched a horror film, which had the name "Leprekon". Also, Lepricon in Greek mythology was the god of stupidity, fun and debauchery. As it turned out, this is one of the attractions, which is located in the Chelyuskintsev Park, in the city of Minsk - the capital of Belarus. The song with the mention of this attraction was written by the Leprikonsa group in the late 90s.

When the song was known, the group leader was asked: "Ilya, what is a paratrooper?" The singer said that all the songs from the repertoire of the rock band are autobiographical. The composition recalls the attractions from the amusement park and the relationship of Ilya with her beloved girl.

Creative activity

At one time, Ilya Mitko lived in Kiev, where he held the position of a VJ on the Ukrainian channel M1. He toured a lot and respected the twin country - Ukraine.

In the mid-2000s, after active years spent in the capital of Russia and Ukraine, most of the guys from the group expressed a desire to return to their homeland, to Belarus. According to the group’s vocalist Ilya, he didn’t have a burning desire, but he didn’t want to be alone in Moscow either. Continuing its creative activities, the group released the album "By the Wires" in 2009, "Ten Years" in 2010 and "Gift" in 2011 together with V. Galygin.

The guys from the Leprikonsy group consider themselves to be a truly folk group. They are actively performing. And from time to time they release new and new songs that become real hits. However, their business card is still tracks that explode in the 90s charts of all popular radio stations. And now, at the group’s concerts, songs such as “Khali-Gali, Paratrooper” and “Girls Loved Me Not” go with a bang, without losing their relevance.
