Choose shrimp
How to understand which frozen shrimp are good, and which are better not to pay attention to? Shrimps should have a shiny shell, the same color and a curled tail. Shrimps are divided into 2 main types: warm-water (king and tiger) and cold-water (Atlantic). The size of the coldwater is much smaller than its warm-water "brothers", but it is believed that their meat is much healthier.
The shrimp tail is twisted more strongly, the less amount of time it lay before freezing. But this statement is only suitable for small cold-water shrimp. Large ones, because of their structure, do not always have a curved tail.
If you notice lumps of snow in the bag or pale spots on the shell, you should know that such shrimps were stored in violation of the thermal regime. What should not scare you is the green head. This happens in individuals that feed on a special kind of plankton. If the head is brown, this is generally wonderful: it means the shrimp is pregnant, and its meat becomes much more useful.
How to cook shrimp
Just boil it!
Start by boiling water in a saucepan. Before this, you need to add dill, cloves, black pepper, peas and half a lemon. In addition, you can put several tablespoons of tomato paste and a head of garlic in water.
After the water with these ingredients boils, you can pour shrimp into it. Let them boil for only five minutes, after which the fragrant shrimp will be ready to eat.
Make barbecue
If the shrimps prepared according to the recipe above are too boring and banal for you, you can cook shrimp kebab.
To do this, you will need:
- 1 kg of large shrimp;
- several branches of rosemary;
- olive oil;
- salt;
- clove of garlic;
- 1 lemon;
- pepper.
Cooking:
Not sure how to cook shrimp? Start by tearing all the leaves off the rosemary, wash them, dry and chop finely. Squeeze a clove of garlic. Now you can start preparing the marinade: mix the juice of garlic, rosemary and four tablespoons of oil. Peel the shrimp, put them in the marinade, pepper and salt. Refrigerate for several hours.
Put the shrimp on the skewers, fry for only 5 minutes. Then sprinkle with lemon juice. All shrimp kebab, the recipe for which is completely simple, ready!
Shrimp in sauce

To prepare it you will need:
- 1 kg of shrimp;
- 100 g butter;
- 4 cloves of garlic;
- parsley;
- ground red and black pepper;
- salt.
Cooking:
Throw the shrimp into boiling water, salt and bring to a boil. After that, cook for about 10 minutes, then cool and clean from the shell.
Then finely chop the garlic and put it in a pan, which already contains heated butter. Fry it lightly, add pre-prepared shrimp, pour in the cream and fry it all for 2 minutes. Then shrimp on a plate.
Thus, in the pan you will have creamy sauce. Add red and black pepper, salt and finely chopped parsley. Mix everything well and stew in a pan for another 3 minutes.
Return the shrimp to the pan, heat it for a minute, put it on a dish and serve.
