According to the instructions for use, Septolete is a medicine with antimicrobial and local anesthetic effects. It is most often used in the field of dentistry and otolaryngology and has two forms of release - spray and lozenges.
The shape of the Septolete lozenges is biconvex round. Most often they have a greenish tint, however, sometimes there may be white blotches. Three blisters are placed in cardboard packaging, each of them has ten lozenges. Packages with two blisters are also available, in which there are 15 tablets.

- "Septolete plus" - either lozenges (yellow with a smooth surface), or a spray.
- "Septolet Neo" is characterized by the presence of different tastes. These tablets differ in color (lemon - yellow, apple - green, cherry - pink, sometimes even lilac), all are biconvex.
As indicated by the instructions for use, the Septolete Plus or Septolete Total spray includes a clear solution, most often without any color or pale yellow. All forms of the described drug have the same active components, which means that the effect of their use will be similar. That is why each patient can choose for himself the most suitable option.
The composition of the drug
What else does the instructions for use tell us? Septolete owes its antiseptic properties to the substance benzalkonium chloride, which destroys bacteria that are a source of sore throat. In some versions of the drug, cetylpyridinium chloride and benzocaine become active components. Excipients are determined by the taste and form of the drug, and most often they are as follows:
- peppermint essential oil and menthol, which reduce pain during swallowing, as well as eliminate burning and tickling;
- eucalyptus essential oil, which contributes to the production and separation of mucus in the respiratory tract and generally facilitates breathing;
- thymol, which has the signs of an antiseptic and at the same time forces other components of the drug to work even harder.
Glucose, glycerol, lactose monohydrate, sucrose, liquid paraffin, emulsion wax, sorbitol, magnesium stearate, castor oil, antifoam 1510 and numerous dyes also serve as auxiliary ingredients for lozenges. Additional components in the spray: sodium saccharin, water, ethanol, glycerin.
Indications and contraindications to the drug
In accordance with the instructions for use, Septolete Plus is taken for numerous pathologies of the oral cavity and throat. For example, a medicine can be prescribed for laryngitis, pharyngitis and inflammatory processes, expressed as stomatitis or gingivitis.
For Septolete Plus, it is also allowed to use with angina, but only if the ailment is at the initial stage. Aerosol and tablets are used for infectious diseases in the throat and oral cavity. They are also used in the complex treatment of flu and colds, as well as to eliminate gingival inflammation.
Contraindications
According to the instructions for use, the Septollet resorption tablets have the following list of contraindications:
- They are forbidden to use to those people who suffer from an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients in its composition. For example, patients may not tolerate the active ingredient, benzalkonium chloride or auxiliary (essential oils). Some have fructose intolerance from birth.
- It should be noted that the drug can not be used by children under the age of five. This is a prerequisite in order to avoid serious consequences.
- Patients with diabetes should use this drug with extreme caution. It is advisable to first obtain specialist advice.
- Cetylpyridinium chloride slows down tissue regeneration, and therefore it is forbidden to treat the mouth with the indicated agent if it has open wounds.

At an older age, adolescents can take as many tablets as those who have come of age. The form of the drug in the form of a spray is only for those who are already six years old.
Interaction with other drugs
According to the instructions for use, Septollet tablets are not recommended for use along with other antiseptics intended for resorption in the oral cavity. Otherwise, there is no information regarding the effect of this medicine on certain medicines.
The named drug should not be taken with milk, since it reduces the antiseptic effect of benzalkonium chloride.
