This tiny Hedgehog with a tiny bundle and a big dream for the evening - to get to visit the Bear Cub - is one of the most touching characters of the Soviet animation. And the most controversial. Actually, the Hedgehog was the hero of more than one cartoon, but the plot of how he got into the fog zone does not leave indifferent ... adults.

For several decades now, parents have been claiming that the kids remain completely indifferent to the hedgehog's wanderings in the fog. Apparently, the director and the artist chose the wrong color scheme for the cartoon: some of it turned out to be grayish, gloomy and not perceived by the children's audience.
Often parents have to torment the baby with questions about what the Hedgehog sees in the fog where he is going, why he turned into fog. Children respond, but somehow without enthusiasm. But experts say that in the ten-minute saga about the Hedgehog there is too much philosophy, it even seems that the main character himself is a bachelor of some eminent university with a philosophical bias.
And although the “Hedgehog in the Fog” is recognized as a cartoon of all time, the five-year-old is still too young to watch it, it remains incomprehensible for children of 10 years. Here at 25 years old you are already beginning to become a little aware of its meaning.

The owl in the cartoon is too huge, as well as loud and somewhat impudent: it resembles an aunt from the market.
Before the eyes of the Hedgehog, a black elephant, a snail and a dog also appear.
In each of these creatures one can see mysticism and a symbol.
What was the Hedgehog looking for in the fog? Why did he climb into this dense veil of milk color, if he could calmly go around the nebula along the path and catch the Bear in time?
But what about? There, in the fog, there is a horse (in an esoteric interpretation: soul, light, truth). Here is a small, weak, poorly trained Hedgehog and went to look for her. I went to look for myself.
An owl, a black elephant, is, according to experts, a symbolism of problems and difficulties, even danger along the way to your soul. Fog also means something, namely uncertainty in one's abilities. Yes, and the Hedgehog itself, with its soft supple character, symbolizes a little man who strives for his truth with all his might, but at every step yields to influence from the outside.

But on the other hand, doesn’t this happen in nature: animals can easily go astray, get lost in the fog and see enough of horses, owls and snails there? Only fog and fear make these simple images mysterious and frightening.
What did the Hedgehog see in a fog that would contradict nature and the climatic zone in which hedgehogs usually live? An elephant, perhaps. But this vision could have arisen simply due to fog and dispelled with the first rays, turning into an ordinary tree.
It was because of the appearance on the screen of an elephant and a horse, so diverse in grace and color, many began to criticize the authors of the Hedgehog and accuse them of singing the post-alcohol syndrome and drug glitches.
Yes you?!! Which hedgehog is an alcoholic, let alone an addict? Cute face and kind soul. And the horse and the elephant are an occasion to reflect and prompt others to reflect. And yet - so that the fairy tale was unlike other “lived-were” ...
