White line hernia and methods of treatment

A hernia of the white line of the abdomen is an insidious and complex disease. The appearance of this hernia is due to excessive weakness of the connective tissues in this part of the body. Because of this, the rectus abdominis muscles can diverge, forming a gap or hole in which such internal organs as the peritoneum, intestines, or glands protrude. A hernia occurs when exposed to weak tissue intra-abdominal pressure. The insidiousness of this disease lies in the fact that such a hernia for a long time can cause almost no symptoms.

This type of hernia accounts for up to 12% of all types of abdominal hernias. Such a disease is most common in men of a fairly young age (20-30 years) and is almost not found in children.

Most often, this disease occurs in the upper abdomen, namely in the stomach. White line hernia , symptoms:

- The main symptom is a painful protrusion of the white line itself.

- increased pain during physical exertion;

- when palpating the abdomen , an elastic and rounded formation is felt, very painful to the touch;

- the peritoneal organs protrude under the skin, and the white line, which normally has only 2-3 cm, can reach a thickness of 10 cm.

A disease such as a hernia of the white line of the abdomen is due to many reasons, sometimes completely independent of us. These reasons include:

- postoperative scars;

- a tendency to hernia caused by hereditary causes;

- obesity or overweight;

- severe physical strain;

- constant constipation;

- persistent, angry cough;

- pregnancy and difficult birth.

There are effective preventive methods to prevent this disease. These include training on all muscle groups of the abdominal muscles , normalizing weight, caution during heavy physical exertion, using a bandage for pregnancy and the normal functioning of the digestive system of the body.

A surgeon can make a diagnosis of a hernia of the white line of the abdomen. To establish the diagnosis, thorough abdominal examinations are performed, such as gastroscopy and radiography, ultrasound, herniography, and computed tomography.

There are three stages of this disease. At the first stage (preperitoneal lipoma) in the area of the white line, preperitoneal fat protrudes into the holes and cracks formed, and pain symptoms begin to appear. At the second stage (initial), a hernial sac is already formed . Its contents are preperitoneal fat and part of the walls of the small intestine. At the third stage (formed), the final formation of the hernia occurs, and the diameter of the hole can reach 12 cm. Although the majority of diseases are single hernias, cases of the formation of numerous hernias located next to each other are far from rare.

White line hernia, treatment of the disease:

1. Traditional medicine offers only the help of surgeons who can remove damage to the abdominal muscles and connective tissue during the operation. For this, special prostheses are often used. Doctors adjust the protruded contents of the peritoneum, and then gently suture all the white line tears that have arisen. During this operation, all discrepancies of the rectus muscles are also removed. Since the connective tissue is very weak, repeated hernia formations after the operation occur in almost 40% of cases.

2. The use of a special bandage is considered a non-surgical way to prevent a hernia of the white line of the abdomen.

All actions to eliminate the hernia are aimed at stopping the boundaries of its expansion and preventing the transition of one stage of the disease to another. The main condition for achieving a good result is the speed of treatment.
