Scoliosis Exercises

One of the first places among the most common ailments in modern society is rightfully occupied by scoliosis. This disease of the spine is characterized by its various curvatures. There are also various classifications of scoliosis, for example, according to the location and shape of the curvature, the origin and development of the disease.

Naturally, all exercises for scoliosis should be performed under the supervision of a specialist, but still there are some that can be done at home on their own. It is only important to know certain rules and follow them.

Before starting exercises for the back with scoliosis, it is necessary to prepare the spine for exertion. To do this, it must be relaxed or pulled out. This can be achieved with the help of a horizontal bar, hanging for a few minutes on it in a relaxed state. You can also lie on a flat surface and stretch your arms and legs in opposite directions. There are various quite effective exercises for scoliosis. Among them, the first place is exercise "bicycle". For its implementation, you need to lie on a flat surface, put your hands behind your head or stretch them along the body. Legs perform circular movements simulating the movement of pedals while riding a bicycle.

After such an exercise, having rested a minute, you can proceed to the next. Without changing the initial position, swing your legs in the horizontal plane. The movements should resemble the process of crossing the scissor blades when cutting something. In this case, you should try not to raise your legs too high, but to keep them as parallel as possible to the surface on which the patient lies.

After a set of exercises in a lying position, you can begin to perform exercises with standing scoliosis. Initially, the joints in the shoulders should be well stretched. To do this, bend your arms at the elbows, put your fingers on your shoulders and perform circular swings. It is very important to do it calmly, you do not need to strive to describe as many circles as possible, this will not bring anything good. Then you can move on to the squats. An important point here is also the low execution speed. Hands should be spread apart and rotated so that the palms looked up.

The next stage is exercises lying on your side. Usually, all actions in this case should be performed alternately for each side. You can start with vertical swings. As well as at the last stage, it is important to do everything slowly and smoothly, as sudden movements can only aggravate the situation. In addition to the previous exercise will be circular movements of the legs with an elongated toe. After all the desired exercises are completed on the right side, you can roll over and do the same thing, lying on the left.

It is very effective to perform exercises using a stick. Standing on a flat surface, the legs are shoulder width apart, you need to raise your straightened arms above your head, holding a stick in them. You can perform swings with straight legs to the sides or make revolutions with the body. The stick in the hands in this case helps to take the spine the correct position and stretch it.
