Among the Marvel superheroes, one of the most controversial is Mystic (Raven Darkholm). Since appearing on comic pages in 1978, she almost immediately fell in love with readers so much that during the adaptation of X-Men, she and Magneto (Eric Lensherr) were chosen as the main antagonists.
Mystic Biography
This heroine does not look like an ordinary person. Her body is covered with blue scales that help her turn into anyone. In her true guise - a yellow-eyed girl with red hair and blue skin - she appears extremely rarely.
Initially, Mystic could not change the shape of the body, as well as grow additional limbs, but after irradiation with radiation her abilities increased.
The exact age of the heroine is unknown, but presumably she was born in the XIX century. At different times, the girl used various pseudonyms, and her real name is Raven Darkholm.
This heroine had many novels. She met with mutant Victor Creed, from a novel with which Mystic had a son. Unfortunately, his mother subsequently had to kill him, as he led the anti-mutant organization.
Later, the heroine takes under her wing the mutant Rogue, but over time she goes to Professor Xavier. Raven also had a son, Kurt Wagner, from the ancient mutant Azazel. Immediately after birth, the mother tried to kill him, but the father saved the baby and gave it to foster parents.
The mystic took part in almost all significant events in the war of mutants with people and among themselves. Several times she even had to stage her own death.
Mystic movie biography
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this heroine has a different biography. Mystic (actress Morgan Lily) as a child was abandoned by her parents, and she had to take care of herself.
Having once climbed into a rich house in search of food, she met the young Charles Xavier and stayed with him. Perhaps Raven was in love with her friend, but Xavier did not notice it. Growing up, Mystic (actress Jennifer Lawrence) helped him in everything, but later was passionate about Magneto's ideas and joined him, leaving Charles behind. After the arrest, Eric defended the mutants on her own.
Upon learning of the Trask project to create robotic hunters for people with the X-gene, she killed him, thereby exacerbating the matter.
After his release, Magneto Mystic (actress Rebecca Romaine) faithfully served him until she accidentally received a shot of a vaccine that deprived the mutants of their abilities. Having lost her strength, she was abandoned by Eric. In retaliation, Raven extradited him to the authorities.
When the robots designed by Trask began to destroy the mutants, Charles and Eric sent Wolverine to the past. He did not let Mystic (actress Jennifer Lawrence) kill Trask. When she saved the US president from Magneto, she became a heroine for everyone. Later, Raven helped defeat the Apocalypse and began to train young mutants at Xavier's school.
Rebecca Romaine - actress who played Mystic in X-Men before the restart
For the first time, Mystic was played in a movie by an American of Dutch origin Rebecca Romaine. She appeared four times on television in this image: “X-Men,” “X-Men,” “X-Men: The Last Battle,” and in a cameo role in “X-Men: First Class.”
Fame Rebecca brought the work of a model in Paris. After some time, she returned to her homeland and began to conduct a television program. In parallel, Romaine tried to act in films, but not particularly successfully. For the first time playing Mystic (X-Men), the actress attracted attention - she began to be invited to the main roles. After the release of the second and third parts, Romaine secured the status of a star.
A little later, the actress became interested in working on television and became a regular participant in such famous television series as “The Ugly Girl”, “Chuck”, “King and Maxwell”, “Librarians”.
Karman Electra is an actress who played Mystic in "Very Epic Movie"
In 2007, the movie “Very Epic Cinema” was released. This comedy made fun of popular films from previous years. The X-Men were no exception. The mystic in this parody was played by Karman Electra. Most likely, this role was given to her because of the incredible similarities between Karman and Rebecca Romaine.
Before Raven, the actress played a lot of roles, however, most of them were in television series ("Rescuers Malibu", "Soldiers of Fortune") and comedies ("Scary Movie 1.4", "Cinematography"). Unlike Romaine for Karman, the role of Mystic was a passing one, but she played her well.
Jennifer Lawrence - The Mystic of the New Generation
After restarting the X-Men epic in 2011, Jennifer Lawrence was invited to play Raven Darkholm . She was Mystic in X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse.
Earlier, the actress had already starred in television programs and series for several years, but she did not gain much popularity, although she was nominated for an Oscar for the film Winter Bone. Perhaps because of this nomination, the producers of X-Men: First Class decided on it, looking for a new performer for the role of Mystic. In any case, the actress did an excellent job, and after this work her career went uphill.
In 2012, Jennifer won the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games and performed it in all four epic scenes. In the same period, she starred in the film "My Boyfriend is Crazy", for which she received an Oscar.
Today, Jennifer Lawrence is incredibly in demand as an actress. Every year 2-3 large-budget projects with her participation are published. As for the role of Mystic ("X-Men"), the actress officially announced that she was leaving the epic.
Lately there have been persistent rumors that it is planned to make a separate film about Mystic. In 2017, three Marvel films will be released: Wolverine 3: Old Man Logan, Gambit, and New Mutants. It is not known for certain whether the Mystic character will appear in them, and who will play it. However, fans leave no hope that Lawrence will change her mind and return to this role.
