Metamizole - the active substance from which this medicine is made, is a white or whitish-yellow crystalline powder. At high humidity, it decomposes quickly. Also, the substance quickly dissolves in water, but very poorly in alcohol.

The drug "Analgin", the properties of which are widely known, has not only anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, but also has good antipyretic properties. Since the drug is highly soluble in water, it is very convenient when you need to quickly achieve a high concentration of a substance in the blood.

The drug "Analgin", the instructions for which it is recommended for use in various pains (myositis, neuralgia, radiculitis, headache), rheumatism, fever (with a sharp increase in temperature), chorea, influenza, as a rule, is well tolerated by patients. But with severe pain in the sternum and in the abdominal cavity, this remedy is ineffective.

Dosage forms of the drug:

-powder in bottles;

- tablets (0.5 g) for adults (package of 20 pcs.);

- children's tablets (0.05; 0.1; 0.15 g);

- ampoules with a solution (25 and 50%) of 5 ml.

Tablets are taken 2-3 times a day: adults - 0.25-0.5 g;, and children - 0.025-0.25 g.

This drug is administered intramuscularly and intravenously for severe pain 2 times a day, 1-2 ml of a 25 or 50 percent solution. Subcutaneous injections are very painful and can cause subcutaneous tissue irritation.

The drug "Analgin" in an aqueous solution is incompatible with any oxidizing agents, since oxidation occurs upon contact with them, as a result of which the solution acquires a brown color and loses its effectiveness.

If the patient takes the drug "Analgin" for a long time, the instruction for him recommends monitoring the state of the blood. In practice, cases of allergic reactions when taking this medication and anaphylactic shock with its intravenous administration have been recorded.

Side effects:

- granulocytopenia (suppression of blood formation);

- agranulocytosis (lack of granulocytes in blood plasma);

- leukopenia.

Contraindications: hypersensitivity, bronchospasm (narrowing of the lumens of the bronchi), impaired hematopoiesis, 1 trimester of pregnancy. In later periods of pregnancy and during lactation, the drug "Analgin" should be taken very carefully. The use of it in high doses and for a long time can lead to anemia, impaired kidney and liver function in the fetus.
