Dosage forms with furacilin are most often used externally in the form of washes and lotions in the treatment of purulent-inflammatory processes caused by staphylococcus and streptococcus, as well as for oral administration (strictly according to the doctor’s recommendation) in the fight against dysenteric and Escherichia coli and other diseases of a bacterial nature . In this case, furatsilin can be presented in the form of a sterile pharmaceutical liquid, alcohol solution or in tablets.
Pharmacy sterile liquid (furatsilin diluted in physiological saline and packaged in vials) is a ready-to-use dosage form.
An alcoholic solution of furatsilin (1: 1500) is used mainly for the treatment of purulent wounds, burns, frostbite, weeping eczema, bedsores in bedridden patients, and it is also buried in the ear for chronic otitis media.
But since it is not always possible to use a ready-to-use form of the drug, a reasonable question arises: how to dilute furatsilin (or how to make a solution of furatsilin) at home for certain cases?
To make a solution of furatsilin on alcohol, take 70 percent pharmacy ethyl alcohol and pour powder from crushed tablets of furatsilin into it (3 furatsilin tablets are taken per 100 g of alcohol). Before a ready-to-use solution is obtained, it is necessary to let the medicine prepared in this way infuse for several hours, and then it can be used as intended.
But most often at home, an aqueous solution of furatsilin is used to gargle with purulent tonsillitis, which is of a bacterial nature. They also use a solution of furatsilin to rinse the maxillary sinuses, however, this procedure is not safe to do at home yourself - you will do this in the treatment room at the ENT.
How to dilute furatsilin to obtain a solution for gargling?
To prepare at home an aqueous solution of furatsilin for rinsing the throat is quite within the power of everyone. It is worth considering only that in cold water or in room temperature water the tablets almost do not dissolve, and even if you throw them in slightly warm water, it will take a very long time to wait for the finished solution.
So how to breed furatsilin?
In pharmacies, tablets are sold at 0.01 and 0.02 grams of furatsilina (which also includes sodium chloride). For rinsing, take one 0.02 gram tablet and dissolve in a glass of hot water (or 2 tablets of 0.01 grams each). How to dissolve furatsilin? To reduce the preparation time of the solution, you just need to knead the tablet into powder - this can be easily done by rubbing it between two tablespoons, or by putting a paper blister on a cutting board, knock on the tablet with something heavy (if the tablets are fresh, then crumpling them is quite easy ), then pour the resulting powder into a glass of hot water and mix well.
After the solution has cooled to room temperature, it can be used. However, so that solid particles of furatsilin, which may remain undissolved at the bottom, do not scratch the sore throat, it is better to additionally strain the solution through 2 layers of gauze.
The procedure for rinsing the throat with furatsilin should last at least 3 minutes, so that the medicinal solution has time to have the proper effect on the affected areas of the larynx, and if you have an oral mucosa, you need to rinse the entire mouth.
The number of rinses per day is 4-5 times, and it is better if you rinse your mouth first from the accumulated mucus.
So, how to dilute furatsilin at home is understandable, but sometimes it can take a long time to completely dissolve, so this solution can be prepared immediately for several days and stored in a dark place, pouring a portion for the next rinse immediately before the procedure, bringing the liquid to a comfortable temperature.
