BPH. What to do?

Prostate adenoma is considered benign hyperplasia, most often it occurs in men after 45 years of age and is manifested by proliferation of tissues, which leads to the appearance of tumors ("nodes") in the prostate. Since the gland is connected to the urethra, it compresses it, making it difficult to urinate when the size of the prostate gland increases.

What is prostate adenoma?

The reason for the development of the disease is hormonal changes that occur in the body of a man with age: the level of testosterone decreases, and the level of estrogen increases. Prostate adenoma affects older men, and in young people this disease is very rare.

  • nightly urination, leading to lack of sleep;
  • low head pressure;
  • the need to urinate immediately after the urge;
  • a feeling of partial emptying of the bladder;
  • straining when urinating;
  • sometimes urinary incontinence.

The disease develops gradually. At the first stage, prostate adenoma is manifested by minor disorders of urination. Its almost imperceptible increase is noted, a stream of urine sluggish. This stage lasts from 1 year to 12 years.

The second stage has more pronounced manifestations: an intermittent stream of urine becomes necessary, straining becomes necessary, the bladder is not completely empty, which leads to inflammation of the urinary tract mucosa. This causes soreness, a burning sensation during urination, pain in the lower back and suprapubic region.

Prostate adenoma in the third stage is manifested by the fact that urine is released involuntarily and constantly, you have to use the urinal. Complications of the disease manifest as acute urinary retention.

Such factors can provoke complications:

  • alcohol abuse
  • constipation,
  • hypothermia,
  • bed rest
  • untimely emptying of the bladder.

Urgent need to contact the hospital to provide assistance.

Prostate adenoma leads to inflammation of the urinary tract, which is manifested by urethritis, cystitis, pyelonephritis, urolithiasis. With serious violations of the outflow of urine, hydronephrosis and renal failure occur.
