How to make rhubarb pie: tips and recipes

Rhubarb is an undeservedly forgotten plant by many housewives. Its sweet taste is best for baking and desserts. An original rhubarb pie will decorate any table. Guests who have never tasted such a dish before will definitely ask for a recipe you have tried.

Simple Rhubarb Pie

To make such a dessert, you will need half a kilogram of rhubarb, a pack of butter, one hundred grams of powdered sugar, two hundred grams of flour, a baking powder, four eggs, one hundred grams of regular sugar and fifty grams of brown. Peel and chop the vegetable into small pieces. Separate the yolks from the proteins and beat the protein with sugar until a dense foam. Mix flour with baking powder. Pound the butter with icing sugar, add the yolks one at a time, and then slowly add the protein to the dough. Put the finished mixture on a baking sheet covered with baking paper. Filling for a rhubarb pie is not required, just evenly distribute the slices of the vegetable over the dough and sprinkle it with brown sugar. For half an hour, bake dessert in the oven, heated to one hundred and sixty degrees. After cooling, sprinkle icing sugar on top.

You can also try traditional Latvian yeast dough pie. Egg-sour cream filling and light sourness of rhubarb combine perfectly and create a wonderful dessert together.

For the test you will need half a liter of milk, fifty grams of fresh yeast, a kilogram of flour, a pack of butter, fifty grams of margarine, a tablespoon of sugar and half a teaspoon of salt. The filling for a treat such as rhubarb pie is a pound of this vegetable in combination with an egg, two hundred grams of sour cream, one hundred grams of sugar, zest or cinnamon to taste. Dilute the yeast into pieces of milk, add the rest of the milk, melted butter and margarine, salt, sugar, add flour and knead a uniform dough. It will be ready when it becomes easy to detach from the hands and utensils. Sprinkle the dough with flour and leave to rise for three hours. Cut rhubarb into circles and sprinkle with sugar. Roll out the dough two centimeters thick, put on a greased baking sheet and bend the edges up. The rhubarb pie is almost ready, it remains only to place the filling. Beat the egg with spices and sour cream, spread the rhubarb on the base and pour it with the resulting mixture.

Open dessert should be baked in a preheated oven, and after cooling, sprinkle with powder.

Quick Rhubarb Pie

If you don’t have time to prepare homemade dough, you can use the store yeast dough. Three hundred grams will be enough. Peel and dice rhubarb. Roll the dough into two parts, put one in a baking dish greased with oil and sprinkle it with filling. Sprinkle rhubarb with sugar and cover the rhubarb pie with a second piece of dough. Bake in the oven at a temperature of two hundred and twenty degrees for about half an hour. Such a simple recipe will turn out to be as tasty as a more complex one.
