The drug "Ursosan": instructions for use

The medicine “Ursosan” is produced in the form of capsules, each of which contains 250 mg of the active substance of ursodeoxycholic acid. The drug is included in the clinical-pharmacological group of hepatoprotectors with choleretic, dissolving gallstones action.

Ursodeoxycholic acid is additionally characterized as a pharmaceutical agent with hypolipidemic, hypocholesterolemic and some immunomodulatory effects.

The drug "Ursosan", instructions for use indicate polar properties, which allows the formation of non-toxic mixed micelles. Thus, it is possible to reduce the ability of gastric reflux to destroy cell membranes with such diagnoses as peptic gastritis, peptic esophagitis. Ursodeoxycholic acid can create double molecules that make up the membranes of cells such as hepatocytes, cholangiocytes, gastrointestinal epithelial cells, normalize their functions, and increase immunity to cytotoxic micelles.

The use of the drug “Ursosan” allows you to reduce the level of toxic bile acids that damage hepatocytes, stimulate choleresis, affect the successful resolution of intrahepatic cholestasis, and reduce the lithogenic bile index. Therefore, the Ursosan medication, the instructions for use, indicate it is used to dissolve gallstones deposited from cholesterol, to prevent the deposition of new calculi in the bile ducts.

The immunomodulating effect is achieved due to inhibition of the activity of certain antigens, normalization of killer activity of lymphocytes. It has been established that ursodeoxycholic acid stops the development of fibrotic processes in those patients who are diagnosed with primary cirrhosis, alcoholic steatohepatitis, and cystic fibrosis.
