pharmachologic effect

Losartan is an angiotensin 2 receptor antagonist that does not inhibit kinase 2. The drug reduces OPSS, blood pressure, blood levels of aldosterone and adrenaline. In addition, the drug successfully has a diuretic effect and reduces afterload.

Losartan can inhibit the development of such a pathology as myocardial hypertrophy, as well as increase the resistance of patients who take this drug to heart failure.

Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to the group of thiazide diuretics. It reduces reabsorption of sodium and increases the excretion of potassium, phosphates and bicarbonate in the urine.

The antihypertensive effect can reach its maximum after 3 weeks.

Indications

  • arterial hypertension in a patient;
  • reduced risk of CVD in patients with advanced left ventricular hypertrophy and arterial hypertension

Side effects

Side effects of losap plus are described in the instructions on the basis of side effects of its main active ingredients - losartan and hydrochlorothiazide.

Side effects that affect the central nervous system

  • dizziness (occurs quite often).

Side effects that provoke allergic reactions of the body:

  • angioedema;
  • swelling of the larynx (and other parts of the upper respiratory tract);
  • hives;
  • vasculitis;
  • Shenlein-Genoch disease.

Side effects that affect CVS (cardiovascular system):

  • arterial hypertension.

Side effects that affect the gastrointestinal tract (risk of occurrence less than 1%):

  • diarrhea;
  • increased liver transaminase activity.

Side effects that affect the respiratory tract:

  • cough.

Side effects that affect the water-electrolyte balance (risk of occurrence less than 1%):

  • hyperkalemia

Contraindications

  • arterial hypertension;
  • anuria
  • hypovolemia;
  • impaired renal and hepatic function;
  • age up to 18 years;
  • sensitivity to components;
  • pregnancy;
  • lactation.

If the patient’s pregnancy occurred against the background of drug consumption, then it should immediately be canceled. The fact is that losap plus directly affects the renin-angiotensin system, which can lead to fetal death in the last two trimesters of pregnancy.

"Lozap plus" tablets are not recommended for pregnant patients because the drug can cause jaundice in the newborn, as well as thrombocytopenia in the mother. Therapy with diuretics, in this case, will not help to avoid toxicosis.

Overdose

Symptoms of an overdose of the drug:

  • decrease in blood pressure;
  • bradycardia;
  • tachycardia;
  • dehydration (due to increased diuresis).

Treatment of an overdose with the drug must begin with gastric lavage in the event that the patient has taken losap plus relatively recently. After which the patient is given symptomatic treatment, and in other cases - correction of water-electrolyte disturbances. Hemodialysis cannot remove both losartan and its metabolites.

Drug interaction

Lozap plus potentiates the effects of other antihypertensive drugs, in case of their complex use. The drug can also cause potentiation of orthostatic hypotension, if used together with barbiturates.
