History of creation

In 2010, the premiere of the film “The Widowed Steamboat” took place. The actors involved in the filming are young Russian artists and cinema stars, known to viewers since Soviet times. The picture is based on the work of the same name by Irina Grekova.

According to the novel by a Russian prose writer, in 1989, the Mossovet Theater premiered the play “The Widowed Steamboat”. Actors involved in theatrical production:

  • Olga Ostroumova;
  • Elvira Brunovskaya;
  • Tatyana Bestaeva;
  • Galina Dashevskaya.

The director of the film in question in this article is Stanislav Mitin. The film has won many positive reviews. You can already understand from the title of the work that the plot is based on stories of difficult women's destinies. Who played the heroines in the film adaptation of the novel “The Widow Steamboat”?

Actors

The plot of the picture can be divided into two parts. The first refers to the pre-war times and years of World War II, the second to the lives of heroines doomed to female solitude. The protagonists of the film are the inhabitants of a communal apartment. Each of the heroines is unhappy in its own way.

Olga Fadeeva played a major role. Nina Usatova created on the screen the image of a tight and cunning neighbor. Ekaterina Durova played the role of a squabble and angry woman. Neighbors spend days in endless quarrels and disputes. In addition, an elderly, exalted person lives in the apartment, who does not get tired of telling fables about her love affairs, which allegedly took place in the distant past. This heroine was played by Galina Petrova.

And, perhaps, the most tragic image in this film was created by Tatyana Lutaeva. The actress played the role of a woman who lost her husband and daughter during the bombing. The heroine Lutaeva spends days all alone, listening to classical music, playing the piano. She, unlike her neighbors, lives only in the past. The pianist does not seek to get rid of loneliness: after the death of her daughter, she can no longer love anyone.

In the film “The Widowed Steamboat”, male roles were played by Eduard Trukhmenev, Alexander Pashkov.

Before the war

The film is about the events of 1935-1946. The plot begins with the image of the New Year's Eve, taking place six years before the outbreak of war. Fedor makes an offer to Anfisa, the heroine of Olga Fadeeva. They are getting married. The events of the pre-war years are shown casually. The characters in the film live in the above communal apartment. Their life can be called happy, only they have no children.

War is coming. Fedor says goodbye to Anfisa. A few months later, the girl also goes to the front as a nurse. For a long time, Anfisa is confident that her husband was killed. And therefore, having met at the front a frivolous and windy Gregory, falls in love with him. But the young soldier does not consider it necessary to take responsibility for Anfisa and their child, who is due to be born soon. The girl returns home to Moscow.

After the war

In the old communal apartment everything is still. Kapitolina and Panka (the heroines of Nina Usatova and Ekaterina Durova) are in constant squabbles. Ada, played by actress Galina Petrova, writes stories about her vibrant youth. But two new tenants appeared in the apartment. This is the lone pianist Flerova, the heroine of Lutaeva. The second new tenant is a laconic war veteran who returned home after a heavy concussion and settled in the room of the loud Panki.

Anfisa brings up her son from a "front-line" husband. She was already used to being alone. The only person with whom she finds a common language is Flerov's pianist. But one day, husband Fedor returns. He is somewhat discouraged by the presence of Anfisa's child, but after a short binge, he decides to start life with a white sheet. The son of Anfisa Fedor brings up as a native. But at some point, he begins to visit the room of a lonely pianist more and more often.

Flerova does not want to endure oblique neighborly views, and therefore forbids Fedor to visit her. After this event, Anfisa's husband commits suicide.

The film “The Widowed Steamboat” on the example of the history of five women's destinies reveals the theme of loneliness, which so often hardens the soul. In the last episode, the heroines celebrate Victory Day. And only on this day calm and mutual understanding reign in the apartment.
