Not everyone understands that frostbite is something really dangerous or think that it will not affect them under any circumstances. However, doctors who work in the emergency room are well aware that too self-confident people often suffer from it. Frostbite, the treatment and symptoms of which will be considered in this article, can be very dangerous, and the consequences of it are not rarely sad. In life, it often happens that negligence and unwillingness to take care of everything in advance become the reason why you have to pay for your whole life.
A few words about frostbite
Most often it occurs in older people, as well as in young people. Frostbite itself is damage to the integument of the skin, as well as other tissues of living organisms, which occurs under the influence of low temperatures. Poor blood circulation, strong winds, the presence of alcohol in the blood, temperature changes, various hormonal imbalances, off-season clothing - all this, due to which, in combination with a factor such as low temperature, frostbite can occur. Treatment should be started immediately. It is very important that it be carried out by a person who knows what he is doing, since here the wrong moves will not bring to good.
When frostbite occurs, tissue damage occurs. Severe frostbite leads to tissue necrosis. Many mistakenly believe that it is possible only at very low temperatures. Fatal can even become a temperature that is at least slightly below ten degrees Celsius. At temperatures below twenty degrees Celsius, the danger becomes very great, and when the thermometer is minus thirty - it will become critical.
As mentioned above, for the most part, pensioners and those who have never thought about retirement suffer from this misfortune. Elderly people most often find its symptoms in themselves for the reason that their body is no longer able to generate heat, as it was before, and young people simply very often disdain warm things (primarily gloves and headgear). Often it is found in those who like to drink heavily.
A few words about prevention
1) Clothing should be warm and not sold.
2) Hats, scarves and gloves in cold weather are simply necessary, especially when it comes to skiing, ice skating and more.
3) Clothing should not be tight.
4) Wearing dirty socks is a great way to freeze your legs.
5) Shoes should be sized.
Frostbite: treatment
It is worth starting with the fact that not infrequently it becomes the cause of amputations of limbs. In general, frostbite, the treatment of which is considered here, can have four stages: in the first stage, only slight discomfort is felt, and in the fourth, severe tissue damage is visible to the naked eye. Of course, at the slightest suspicion of something serious, you must immediately contact the nearest clinic.
In general, in case of frostbite, it is recommended:
- immediately deliver the victim to a warm place;
- remove frozen clothing and shoes;
- drink hot tea with a high sugar content;
- the damaged part of the body should be washed, rubbed (for example, with alcohol) and apply a bandage.
Frostbite of the third and fourth degree should be treated under the supervision of a doctor, as they can cause gangrene.
Frostbite: treatment
What, what, and fingers suffer from this, perhaps, most often. Most often, they are amputated in the victims. It is somewhat more dangerous than, for example, frostbite of the hands, but treatment should be even more immediate.
At the first symptoms, it is recommended to hide your fingers under the clothes and begin to make quick movements with them. Immediately find a warm room and act in exactly the same way as in case of damage to other parts of the body.
It often happens that due to being in the cold, the fingers (especially the toes) lose their sensitivity and stop bending normally. In such cases, you should not hesitate, but it is better to immediately consult a doctor, since all this of itself may not pass.
