What are DIC syndromes?

DIC-syndromes are considered a fairly serious disease, characterized by impaired hemostasis, in which there is diffuse blood coagulation. It is as a result of such a violation that the so-called cell aggregates and tiny blood clots are formed, which, in turn, block the existing microcirculation, and also subsequently cause dystrophic changes. In this article, we will describe in more detail how the DIC syndromes differ.

ICE syndromes
Causes

According to experts, most often this kind of ailment occurs as a result of destruction of the lungs or some infectious diseases (for example, smallpox, herpes, rubella). On the other hand, DIC syndromes often develop against the background of surgical intervention to remove the spleen or typhoid fever. In addition, the disease can be caused by extensive tissue damage, hemolytic anemia. It is extremely rare for DIC to be diagnosed due to diabetes mellitus or epilepsy.

Symptoms

Such an ailment usually goes through several phases. So, initially, patients have increased blood coagulability and the consistent formation of microthrombi. Then, the number of platelets present decreases sharply. At the third stage, doctors, as a rule, note a sharp dysfunction of blood coagulation. At the final stage, this indicator is normalized, but here the likelihood of complications is very high. As for the symptoms themselves, they mainly depend on the initial ailment, which served as the cause of the development of DIC. Note that the duration of each of the above stages depends solely on the rate of development of the disease itself. Due to the fact that the disease is characterized by general bleeding, the symptoms, of course, are determined by the appearance of subcutaneous hematomas, bruising. In some cases, patients even have intestinal and pulmonary bleeding.

laboratory diagnosis of ICE syndrome
Laboratory diagnosis of DIC

Diagnosis of this disease is carried out on the basis of identifying causal ailments. In those diseases when this syndrome is a natural manifestation, as a rule, diagnosis is quick. Otherwise, for example, in newborn babies it can be very difficult to make such a diagnosis. The main method of laboratory research is a complete blood test and its coagulation system. It is very important to determine the level of the so-called antithrombin III.

Treatment

prevention of ICE syndrome

Therapy is most often very long. First of all, doctors without fail eliminate the underlying ailment, which provoked the appearance of this syndrome. In the case of infectious and inflammatory processes, antibacterial drugs are prescribed. In case of shock conditions, infusion solutions that improve blood circulation are predominantly administered.

Prevention of DIC

As the main preventive methods, experts strongly recommend timely treatment of causative diseases. Be healthy!
