Eduard Nazarov, Soviet animator, director: biography, creativity

Eduard Nazarov worked on creating funny and good cartoons for many generations of children. This is not only about the Soviet guys, but also about the modern ones, who are happy to watch the domestic “Winnie the Pooh” or the comedy animated film “Once Upon a Time”. How did the life of the talented animator turn out and what awards did he receive for his work, besides the gratitude of the audience?

Biography

Eduard Nazarov devoted his whole life to the art of animation. Little is known about the personal biography of the artist and director.

Edward Nazarov
The future creator of “Winnie the Pooh” was born at the end of November 1941. Edward received his education, as befits a professional, at the Stroganov School.

Nazarov did not immediately launch his own projects on the screen: at first he worked part-time as a drawer in the team of Mikhail Tsekhanovsky. Tsekhanovsky is for the most part known as the creator of the old Soviet cartoons Tsvetik-Semitsvetik and Tsarevna-Frog. Over time, Mikhail Mikhailovich made Eduard Nazarov his assistant.

Only the team of another animator, Fyodor Khitruk (Fly-Tsokotuha, The Scarlet Flower), managed to advance through the ranks to the status of a production designer.

Also, since the late 70s, Eduard Vasilievich has been teaching. And in 93, the artist managed to organize his own school-studio of animators.

Eduard Nazarov: cartoons. Winnie the Pooh Series

Perhaps you will not find a more popular project among the works of Nazarov than a series of animated films about Winnie the Pooh.

Edward Nazarov cartoons
As a production designer, Eduard Nazarov released three cartoons of 10 minutes each about the adventures of a bear who loved honey very much. The script for the cartoons was developed by Fedor Khitruk and writer Boris Zakhoder based on the work of the same name by Alexander Milne.

In fact, the director of the project was considered Fedor Khitruk. He solved many issues, for example, related to the selection of actors for voice acting, developed the general concept of the cartoon. Nazarov, on the other hand, held the position of production designer along with a certain Vladimir Zuykov.

The series about Winnie the Pooh refers to hand-drawn cartoons. Such actors as Evgeny Leonov, Erast Garin, Iya Savvina were invited to voice the characters. So that the voices of the artists fit well into the general humorous concept, they were passed through the accelerator so that they sounded more comical.

Director Eduard Nazarov and his animated film "Once Upon a Time"

“Once upon a time” was Nazarov’s independent project. And I must say, pretty good.

The plot of this hand-drawn film is straightforward, but the audience fell in love with it for one very hilarious scene in the final. The action begins with the fact that a dog lives in the Ukrainian peasant family, which serves the owners faithfully. But because of his old age, he is kicked out into the street. A hungry old dog is helped by his first enemy - the wolf whom the dog used to chase. The wolf helps to play a "performance", as a result of which the old dog is again taken into the master's house. However, the main character does not forget his fanged friend: he secretly leads him to a village wedding and feeds him leftovers from the table. Relaxing, the wolf howls and scares away all the guests. The following phrases became the catchphrases of the cartoon: "Shaw, again?" and “Right now I’ll sing!”

Eduard Nazarov for his work received an award at the French Annecy festival, as well as an IFF prize in Tours and Odense.

"Vacations Boniface"

The Soviet animator presented the children with another kind and good cartoon - we are talking about “Boniface Vacations”.

The plot for the animated film was written by Fyodor Hitruk based on the Czech fairy tale by Milos Matsourek. Khitruk also directed this project. As for Nazarov, he was part of the team of animators.

We are talking in a cartoon about the lion Boniface, who serves in the circus. When he enters the arena, he begins to pose as a malicious predator. Off the stage, Boniface is kind and affectionate, and also very fond of his grandmother. Remembering that he had not visited her for a long time, Boniface asked the director of the circus and went on vacation. While sailing on a boat to Africa, the lion indulged in dreams of how to fish in the lake. But his plans were not destined to come true. Instead of fishing and relaxing, the circus performer had to entertain Aboriginal kids.

E. Nazarov today also continues to engage in animated films, but already as the director of an animation studio called "Pilot".
