He did not want to recall the classic reproduction of “Beauty and the Beast”, but wanted to convey to the teenagers problems in their own language, where the mystical beginning in the tape only complemented the general love mood. Before the final appearance at the box office, the film “Terribly Beautiful” expected a lot of difficulties.
The writers' strike led to a halt in filming. The postponement of the release date was also caused by the fact that at the same time the public was expecting the release of another film - the youth drama “Double Life of Charlie San Cloud”. The main role in it was played by Zac Efron. It was Vanessa Ann Hudgens, his girlfriend and partner in Classy Musical, who persuaded distributors to postpone the premiere so that the perception from both films would not overlap. By the way, the film “Terribly Beautiful” attracted Zac Efron. He, like the Twilight star Robert Pattinson, was a contender for the lead role. In order not to repeat the on-screen duet Efron-Hudgens from “Classical Musical”, the creators abandoned this idea.
The desire to play in the film was expressed by the actors themselves. “Terribly handsome” was an expected project, because participation in it could have a beneficial effect on the future career of each of them. Alex Pettifer trusted the make-up artists - he included all sorts of tattoos and artificial limbs required by the script. So, replacing Kyle's mother, housekeeper Zola was played by Lisa Gay Hamilton. The role of a blind teacher helping a teenager went to Neil Patrick Harris, a friend of the sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.” In order to truthfully play the blind, the actor wore impervious contact lenses.

Despite the fact that the film received mostly negative reviews, it brought the expected profit to the studios and took a place in the Times magazine among the largest projects of 2010. The success in numerous interviews was also discussed by those who so scrupulously approached its creation - actors. “Terribly handsome” was not just a passing tape in their filmography, but once again demonstrated the talent of everyone, without exception. The film received several nominations for various awards.
After the release of the movie, the actors of the film “Scary Handsome” successfully continued their career.
