Halitosis (halitosis ) can have a variety of causes. However, despite the triggering factors, the condition has a rather negative effect on human life, creating, in particular, communication difficulties. This is especially true for children. Bad breath in a child can cause mockery of him, which affects his mental state.
Specialists identify several of the most common factors that cause halitosis.
Bad breath can be associated with diseases of the digestive tract (peptic ulcer, gastritis). There is also a pathology in which there is no complete closure of the esophageal sphincter, as a result of which unpleasant odors enter the oral cavity through the esophagus from the stomach.
The condition can be triggered by intestinal diseases (colitis, enteritis and others). Inflammatory processes are accompanied by the release of toxic substances, the removal of which from the body is carried out in various ways, including the lungs. As a result, bad breath is formed.
Purulent-inflammatory phenomena in the body associated with diseases of the ENT organs (nose, ear or throat) or lungs (abscess, tuberculosis, pneumonia) can also provoke halitosis.
A very common factor that causes bad breath is the pathology of the oral cavity. This category includes diseases of the teeth and gums. In addition, quite often halitosis develops with insufficient oral hygiene. Active reproduction of putrefactive microorganisms occurs in the spaces between the teeth, on the plaque, on the mucous membranes of the cheeks and tongue with the formation of fetid gases.
Bad breath often appears after eating certain foods (garlic, onions), smoking or alcohol abuse.
You can use various methods and recipes to get rid of halitosis.
One of the most effective is rinsing the oral cavity with a solution of hydrogen peroxide. To prepare the composition, mix three or four tablespoons (teaspoon) of three percent peroxide with a glass of water. Rinse is carried out twice or thrice a day. Thus, putrefactive bacteria die under the influence of active oxygen. Hydroperite (a tablet form of hydrogen peroxide) is allowed.
The needles of Siberian cedar are useful (you can replace them with fir, pine or larch), especially with diseases of the gums and oral cavity. It is recommended to chew fresh needles, carefully grinding with your teeth and tongue. The result should be a very thin slurry (it should not be swallowed). Thus, the oral cavity is disinfected with phytoncides of needles. In addition, this procedure is an effective massage and helps to cleanse the mouth of food debris and germs.
With reduced salivation (dry mouth), accompanied by an unpleasant odor, it is recommended to chew a slice of lemon. The product eliminates halitosis for the next hour and a half. In addition to the ability to enhance salivation, lemon is an excellent immunostimulating agent, as it saturates the body with ascorbic acid.
To reduce the intensity of unpleasant odors, experts recommend including more acidic fruits (apples, oranges) in the diet.
It is known that sugar supports the development of putrefactive microorganisms, while honey has antibacterial properties. Experts recommend chewing propolis more often and eating honey. These products can permanently relieve halitosis.
There are also medicinal herbs, rinsing them with decoctions helps to cope with an unpleasant odor. Such plants, in particular, include yarrow, wormwood, tansy.
