The drug "Proposol" is an anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial drug of the combined type for local use. The composition of the medication includes three active ingredients: ethyl alcohol, glycerin, propolis. A drug in the form of an aerosol is available.
Propolis, being a beekeeping product, contains various components of plant origin, whose properties determine its bactericidal effect. When using this component, the stability of microorganisms does not develop for a long period, which is associated with its variable composition, depending on the location of the hives, season, and plants that the bees used to collect adhesive components. Propolis is active against all pathogenic bacteria, including those resistant to antibiotics. As practice shows, in patients using this component, there is no dysbiosis and disturbance of the natural microflora.
Glycerin (trihydric alcohol), helps to moisturize the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract and mouth, thus preventing the development of irritation due to dryness.
Ethyl alcohol (ethanol) is an antiseptic. Its pharmacological effects are largely determined by concentration. In the composition of the drug "Proposol" ethyl alcohol 96% has an antiseptic and astringent effect. Along with this, a slight irritating effect on tissues is noted (in comparison with ethyl alcohol 40%).
