Contemporary cinema is not at all unambiguous: now there is almost no unshakable law or canon, everything is subject only to the imagination of the author and the perception of the audience. The modern film industry is on the path of radical reform, so the films of recent years are extremely different among themselves, while having the same name. A striking example is the three films with the title "Deliver us from the evil one."
In accordance with the canons of the police film genre and an admixture of mysticism
Director Scott Derrickson (detective horror film “Sinister”, the dramatic horror film “Six Demons of Emily Rose”) presented his creation to the audience for the movie “Deliver us from the evil one” (actors: Sean Harris, Edgar Ramirez, Eric Bana, Chris Coy, Olivia Mann). According to a new-fangled trend, the creators, albeit vaguely, refer to certain real events underlying the movie. But more enlightened film lovers know that the film was shot based on the opus of a New York police officer Ralph Sarchi with the eloquent title “Beware of the Night.” According to the author himself, the basis of the book was his personal experience. Participants in the filming of the actors “Deliver us from the evil one” were called “notes of a madman” among themselves. The plot of the picture is built in strict accordance with the laws of the police genre. Two police companions: one - wise by experience, judicious, the second - beginner, young and hot - are working to solve the murder, tirelessly looking for the main villain, and in breaks effortlessly competing in wit. But at a certain stage in the development of the plot action, the tape inexorably turns into a real horror thriller.

In harmony with the fashion trend
All the actors in the movie “Deliver Us From the Evil One” attribute the appearance of the new character of Mendoza (Edgar Ramirez), a priest, an ex-drug addict who knows a lot about demons, with a turning point in the plot narrative of the picture. The viewer is animated, because watching the forced duet of Eric Ban (unbelieving cop) and Ramirez is quite interesting. Also very intriguing is the appearance of the hero Sean Harris, who became the embodiment of a demon possessed. Largely due to successful casting, the film “Deliver us from the evil one” (the actors and roles were really exacting to each other by the authors of the film) turned out to be frightening, with an atmosphere full of gloomy mystery and infernalism. Due to the fact that the detective component, the intrigue is abundantly crammed with mysticism, it fits perfectly into the modern trends of world cinema and will surely appeal to fans of the genre.
Co-production film from Norway, Denmark and Sweden
In 2009, screenwriter and director Ole Bornedal presented a product of co-production of the northern European states under the same name - “Deliver us from the evil one” (actors: Lasse Rimmer, Lene Nistrem, Fanny Bornedal, Jacob Ottensten, Mogens Pedersen). This picture was sharp, dedicated to the problems of xenophobia and misanthropy in a wide variety of manifestations. The plot unfolds in one of the many sleepy provincial Danish towns.
Plot
One of the central characters - the father of the Ingvar family - earns a living by trucking. His two adult sons lead the opposite way of life. Jonas is an exemplary family man, successful in business, and Lars is a mediocre alcoholic suffering from the realization of his own insignificance. One day, he hits his brother’s wife in a truck and tries to blame a refugee from Bosnia named Alain. This accident provokes a series of tragic events that definitely will not leave anyone watching indifferent. This is the description of the plot of the thriller “Deliver us from the evil one”. Actors, photos of which can only be found in the Scandinavian media devoted to cinema, characterize the plot of the picture somewhat protracted. But they promise that the ending will surprise anyone.
A crushing blow to the unshakable reputation of the Catholic Church
The scandalous, shocking and extremely provocative film “Deliver us from the evil one” (actors, or rather participants: Adam, Pope Benedict XVI, Jeff Anderson, Case DeGroot, Monsignor Kane), screenwriter and director Amy Berg, was released in 2006. It was the most powerful blow in the history of documentary films to the unshakable reputation of the Catholic Church, because he exposed corruption in the layer of the higher clergy. The project tells about the most famous pedophile priest - father Oliver O`Grady from America, who, using his influence and power over parishioners, seduced their children for almost thirty years. Terrifying atrocities were committed with the tacit consent of the supreme clergy. Church authorities, in order to pacify the population, simply transferred the wicked from one parish to another.
Forbidden to show
The film immediately after the release of the trailer was delayed with access to the big screen. The cinema association of America assigned him the red square badge. Because of this movie, it was banned for viewers under the age of majority (18 years). The picture "Deliver us from the evil one" (the actors this time were in solidarity with censorship) was banned from showing in most commercial cinemas. But despite the fact that this picture of his revelation of the terrible deeds of the church minister forms a purely negative attitude in the viewer not only to the top clergy, but also to the church as a whole, to forget that this case is more a regrettable exception than a rule. not worth it.
