After reaching the age of six, Carl Malden went to the only school in the small town of Gary. The mother of the future actor was a native of the Czech Republic. She was engaged in sewing and worked in a weaving factory. Karl's father is a Serb, was engaged in metallurgy, he was a worker at the United State Steel Corporation. It was the only enterprise that paid well.
In his school years, Karl liked to engage in theatrical productions, which helped him in his future profession.
