antihistamines

Drugs that are united by such a common concept as “antihistamines” are found in the home medicine cabinet of almost every family. This only says that these drugs are quite popular, but it is likely that most people who take them often have no idea what it is, how this or that antihistamine drug works, and what ultimately may result.

Before you begin to describe the effect of the drug and its side effects, it should be recalled that you need to start taking it only according to the indications and the appointment of a doctor who will thoroughly study the problem and prescribe the appropriate dosage.

As a rule, antihistamines are prescribed to treat allergies. The appearance of an allergic disease occurs due to the penetration of certain allergens into the human body. When they are received, the production of biologically active substances begins, which cause this disease. The most common such substance is histamine. If a person is healthy, this substance is inactive in his body. If an allergic reaction to a substance is observed, histamine is immediately released, which leads to the appearance of allergic symptoms. It can be a runny nose, various redness, rash, bronchospasm and lowering blood pressure.

When these symptoms appear, doctors prescribe antihistamines that act on histamine. In the course of treatment, its amount decreases, its release practically stops, and one that has already begun its action is also neutralized. So, the main goal when using such drugs is to eliminate and also prevent the symptoms of increased histamine release.

An allergy can be respiratory — when a person inhales something, it can be food — it eats something, contact — when a drug or cream is applied to the skin, and also pharmacological — the use of drugs, in response to which the active release of histamine begins.

It is important to know that the preventive effect of all such drugs is not pronounced, that is, if there is an allergy, for example, to citrus, this does not mean that it can be eaten in the bite with an antihistamine, but it is better not to use it at all. But there are such hopeless situations as an allergy to poplar fluff, you can’t get away from it, and here antihistamines are prescribed.

Currently, modern antihistamines such as diprazine, diazolin, tavegil, suprastin and fencarol are prescribed to eliminate allergic symptoms. These drugs have been used for a very long time, because their positive as well as negative effect is known thoroughly. Their dosage form can be completely different: tablets, syrups, suppositories, and even injections.

The main goal of these drugs is to eliminate the symptoms of allergies. By the way, antihistamines with itching help just fine, if it is caused by an allergic reaction, of course. All such drugs to a greater or lesser extent have a sedative effect - they calm, slow down a bit and have sleeping pills. Take them to people whose work or lifestyle requires a quick reaction, you need to be very careful. Therefore, it is said that the appointment of drugs to eliminate allergic symptoms should be carried out only by specialists. A person who works while driving a car will be assigned, for example, fencarol, as it has less pronounced sedative effects than the same suprastin.

Summing up, we can say that all antihistamines have common advantages, they really perfectly eliminate allergic symptoms, thereby making life easier, and are also affordable.
