One of the most popular franchises of the 2000s is a series of films about Ancient Egypt and animated mummies. A total of three films were shot, the last of which is "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor." Actors in the project took part quite famous. Who are the main actors?
Short story
The first two films of the franchise were completely devoted to Egyptian themes and myths about the secrets of the pyramids, mummies and treasures. The third picture was dedicated to a different culture and was called "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor": the actors this time entered into battle with the mummy of the Chinese long-dead emperor and his minions.
If earlier on the screen a funny trio of researchers flickered, consisting of Rick O'Connell, Evelyn and her brother Jonathan, now they are also joined by Rick's son Alex, as well as his new Chinese witch friend named Lin.
Emperor Qin Shi Huang was cursed 2,000 years ago, so with his warriors he turned into sleeping statues. But Alex inadvertently awakens Shi Huang from sleep, and then throughout the film unsuccessfully tries to get rid of the ancient mummy together with his parents. Along the way, Alex meets the immortal girl Lin and seriously falls in love for the first time in his life.
The film "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor", actors and roles. Brendan Fraser as Rick O'Connell
Brendan James Fraser waited for the fateful role of Rick O'Connell for quite some time. From the age of 12 he plays in the theater, and since 1991 he has acted in films.
At the beginning of his career, Fraser had to play in low-budget projects. For example, in 1994, the comedy “Empty Heads” by Michael Lehmann was released, in which Fraser got the main role. The film was dedicated to the adventures of three musician friends. In addition to Brendan, in the picture you can see Steve Buscemi and Adam Sendler.
A year later, the actor appeared in the film "From Time to Time", where Demi Moore, Christina Ricci and Melanie Griffith also appeared. In 1999, the first Mummy appeared in Fraser's filmography. This is still the most famous project with the participation of the artist, not counting the film "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor." The actors involved in the franchise have not become famous. The only exception is Rachel Weiss, but she left the project after the first two films.
"The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor": actors and roles. Maria Bello as Evelyn
The audience really liked the move that franchise screenwriters used: they introduced a woman who is so smart and agile that she can give odds to any man. Such a heroine was Evelyn Carnahan, who later became the legal wife of Rick O'Connell.
The role of Evelyn in the first films was played by Rachel Weiss - the star of the films "Constantine" and "Chain Reaction." The famous actress did not want to star in the third part of Mummy, so Maria Bello took her place. But, unfortunately, viewers perceived it negatively.
Nevertheless, Maria Bello was twice nominated for the Golden Globe and is not the worst actress. She began her career in the series “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” which lasted only a year on the screens. Bello then appeared in the romantic comedy The Ugly Coyote Bar. In 2006, Maria played Donna in the Twin Towers. After The Mummy, Maria starred in the films Private Life of Pippa Lee, Classmates, and Captives.
Jet Li as Emperor Qin Shi Huang
In the film "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor", the actors fight the revived mummy of the Chinese emperor. This very mummy was brilliantly performed by a Chinese artist and great Wushu master - Jet Li.
His hero is not fiction. Qin Shi Huang really reigned in 200 BC. e. and through incredible cruelty he was able to restore autocracy in China. In the film, the scriptwriters mystified this image and added some magic.
Jet Li began acting in films as far back as 1982. These were predominantly Chinese action movies. However, in 1998, Jet was entrusted with the role in the popular Hollywood action movie "Lethal Weapon-4." Then there was “Kiss of the Dragon” with Bridget Fond, “The Expendables” and many more popular projects.
Jet Li’s invitation to the role of emperor in the Mummy franchise allowed the creators of the project to win extra points and attract fans of Chinese militants to the screens.
Other role performers
The actors of the film “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” are both Luke Ford, who played Alex, and John Hannah, who played the restless Jonathan.
In general, the character of John Hannah is a kind of decoration of the picture. Jonathan, brother Evelyn, with his cowardice and awkwardness, makes a comedic contrast to the self-confident and brave protagonist. John Hannah is also known for the films Agents S.H.I.T., Spartak and The Last Legion.
Luke Ford, who played the role of Rick O'Connell's son, is mostly filming in his native Australia and cannot boast of famous projects in Hollywood.
