Muscle cramps

Muscle spasms are accompanied by a simultaneous contraction of the fibers that are located inside them. As a rule, such states are the result of sudden movements. Muscle spasms can also occur due to their excessive stretching. This, in turn, occurs in the absence of proper preparation for work.

Such phenomena can occur at any age, but most often they are observed in people of middle and older age.

So, with a quick torso after prolonged sitting, a spasm of the back muscles may occur , provoked by stretching. This process is accompanied by pain. Muscle fibers respond to stretching, respectively, by contraction, which leads to a limitation of blood flow to them and increased irritation. This, in turn, contributes to even greater stress. Thus, the muscles are deprived of the opportunity to relax on their own.

Typical cramps usually pass with movement. In contrast, muscle spasms block motor function.

As practice shows, contractions are characteristic of those parts of the body that are most often in a state of tension. These are areas of the neck and back. These areas show the greatest sensitivity to loads, in some cases, even to insignificant. Muscle spasms in these places can occur as a result of strenuous sedentary work for a long period. In some cases, reductions occur due to hypothermia (drafts, exposure to frost or ice water).

Quite often, cramping and inflammation in the muscles appear sharply, immediately after the transfer or lifting of gravity or unsuccessful movement. The greatest danger is the lowering or lifting of gravity, accompanied by turning the body sideways or carrying the weight on outstretched arms in front of you. However, in most cases, a sharp contraction manifests itself one to two days or the next day after excessive stress, transfer of gravity or prolonged work in an uncomfortable position. Inflammation, accompanied by spasms, can occur against the background of acute respiratory viral infections or the flu. Muscle contractions are always characterized by high-intensity pain. Inflammation and cramping cause swelling of the fibers and pinching of the large nerves. Which, in turn, provokes severe pain and contributes to more intense muscle contractions.

Hypothermia is a fairly common cause of seizures and cramps. As a rule, the occurrence of these phenomena does not apply to signs of disease, since they pass quickly enough and rarely occur. However, in many cases, patients complain of leg muscle spasms at night. It should be noted that the manifestation of these symptoms may indicate the presence of various diseases (including the central nervous system). The causes of such reductions also include hidden injuries, diabetes, inflammation, neurological diseases, thyroid damage. Spasms in the lower extremities can provoke flat feet, stress, varicose expansion and, of course, excessive stress. In some cases, the manifestation of symptoms is observed due to a lack of trace elements (calcium, magnesium and potassium). As you know, magnesium is involved in the transmission of nerve impulses to muscle cells, while calcium is its “physiological partner”. For the best assimilation of these microelements, D-vitamin is used.

With prolonged manifestations of muscle spasms, it is necessary to be examined by an endocrinologist, neurologist and phlebologist. Specialists will identify the underlying disease and direct treatment to eliminate it. As a result of which, in most cases, there is a deliverance from muscle cramps (cramps).
