The drug "Finlepsin", the instructions indicate released in the form of tablets, the active substance of which is carbamazepine, a dibenzazepine derivative, in the first tab. - 200 mg. The drug is included in the clinical and pharmacological group of anticonvulsants.

Additionally, Finlepsin tablets act on the body as an antidepressant, antipsychotic and antidiuretic. They have a moderate analgesic property in patients with neuralgia. When prescribing the drug to children, adolescents and adult patients with epilepsy, there is a decrease in signs of anxiety and depression, and aggressiveness and irritability are significantly reduced.

Cognitive functions and psychomotor characteristics depend on the dosage of Finlepsin. The anticonvulsant effect occurs after a few hours. In some cases, there is a violation of the absorption of the drug, so the therapeutic effect has to wait for a week, or even a month

The drug is prescribed:

  • with epilepsy with elementary, complex and mixed symptoms;
  • with trigeminal neuralgia;
  • with diabetes, to eliminate the pain of diabetic neuropathy;
  • with inflammation of the peripheral nerves;
  • with glossopharyngeal neuralgia of the idiopathic type;
  • with multiple sclerosis, when seizures of epileptic origin are observed;
  • with spasms of the facial muscles in patients with trigeminal neuralgia;
  • with paroxysmal paresthesias and bouts of pain;
  • with tonic convulsions, attacks of impaired speech and movements;
  • with alcohol withdrawal syndrome, accompanied by anxiety, convulsions, hyper excitability, sleep disturbance;
  • with psychotic disorders, including affective;
  • with schizophrenia, psychosis, disorders of the limbic system.

The dosage of the drug is chosen by the doctor depending on the age, diagnosis and condition of the patient. Finlepsin is used perorally and is prescribed after or during meals. It is recommended to drink tablets with water.

The drug "Finlepsin": side effects

1. Disturbances in the functioning of the nervous system sometimes arise as a result of an overdose of the drug, as a result of a spasmodic accumulation of the active substance in the blood plasma. They appear dizziness, ataxia, drowsiness, general weakness, headache, paresis of accommodation.

Less than 10% of patients are observed.

Even more rarely, less than in <1% of patients, the appearance of involuntary movements and nystagmus is possible.

During clinical trials, data were obtained that the occurrence of hallucinations, depression, lack of appetite, anxiety, aggressive behavior, mental arousal, disorientation and exacerbation of psychosis are possible less than in 0.1% of patients. The drug "Finlepsin", the instruction indicates, also rarely can cause complications in the form of peripheral neuritis, paresthesia, muscle weakness, paresis.

2. Allergic reactions in less than 10% of patients were manifested by urticaria, less than in 1% of patients with erythroderma, multi-organ reactions, hypersensitivity with fever, rash, vasculitis, lymphadenopathy, lymphoma symptoms, arthralgia, leukopenia, hepatosplenomegaly, eosino.
