Pustule is an inflammatory rash, the cavity of which is filled with pus. Such elements appear precisely in the thickness of the skin or in the epidermis, regardless of the gender of the person. Most often, such pustules form in the face and back. With untimely treatment or neglect of the skin, a significant reduction in skin tone, the appearance of small scars and uneven pigmentation is possible.
The appearance of the pustule
Outwardly, the rash of the pustule is similar to small balls, with a diameter of not more than 0.5-0.9 cm, with a white or light yellow neoplasm on the surface. Such painful elements of the inflammatory rash can burst over time and form a crust on its surface. Sometimes it is possible to observe an independent drying of the pustule without outside interference (opening).
Inflammatory rash can be either spherical or conical or flat. Pustules are the primary elements on the skin that most often appear in adolescence and less commonly in children or adults.
Causes of occurrence
Pustules on the face arise due to such negatively influencing factors as:
- improper functioning of the sebaceous glands, due to which clogging of the pores occurs, as well as infection with staphylococci or streptococci;
- mechanical damage to the skin;
- excessive sweating;
- weakened immune system;
- hypovitaminosis;
- various diseases, such as: syphilis, candidiasis, scabies, chickenpox, etc.
According to medical statistics, a common cause of pustules is the body's immune response to bacteria. Such infections affect the skin just after the sebaceous glands clog pores. The main causative agent is the staphylococcus stamps.
Types of Pustules
Depending on the location of such pustular elements, distinguish:
- epidermal pustules (this type of rash is located precisely on the surface of the skin and after its disappearance, scars and scars do not form);
- dermal pustules (occur in the subcutaneous tissue and often after their healing, age spots, scars and irregularities appear on the skin).
Depending on the location of the pustule in relation to the hair follicle, inflammation is divided into:
- follicular (appeared directly in the hair sac);
- not follicular (formed outside the follicle).
Pustule treatment
Of course, it is not recommended to independently open pustular inflammation and apply various means. If such aesthetic problems are found, it is advisable to initially consult a dermatologist or cosmetologist who will help determine the severity of the inflammation and prescribe a truly effective treatment.
Acne pustules can also indicate the onset of serious diseases that should be treated before proceeding to cleanse the skin. In most cases, doctors will advise you to undergo additional examinations, and may require the results of a blood test. With the right treatment and constant compliance with all the doctor’s prescriptions, the pustules disappear after 1.5-2 weeks.
Pustule treatment at home
Often, pustules are white pustules that may not dry out for quite a long time, while complicating a person’s life and lowering his self-esteem. To remove inflamed vesicles, it is initially recommended to steam the face with a steam bath and only then carefully open the pustule. Before the procedure, it is necessary to sanitize the hands and skin where inflammation has formed.
Opening the abscess should be done with a handkerchief, which is carefully ironed in advance. If pressing causes severe pain or pus does not come out, therefore, the pustule is “not ripe”. It is not recommended to press strongly on the inflamed area so that the infection does not “go” deeper into the skin. If it was possible to painlessly remove the abscess papule, then the open wound is lubricated with an antibacterial agent using a cotton pad or stick. At home, in order to reduce inflammatory processes, it is recommended to use antibacterial fluids, ointments and gels, such as:
- "Benzoyl peroxide";
- Levomekol;
- alcohol or iodine;
- Zinerite;
- Baziron.
Pustule is an abscess inflammation that appears due to the lack of compliance with all hygiene rules. It is worth remembering that the skin of the face and body should be kept clean, and when the first signs of pustules appear, it is advised to consult a specialist who can find out the true causes of such an aesthetic problem.
