Horror comedy: both scary and funny

One of the main movie genres, comedy, is quite easily crossed with other genres such as detective, science fiction, adventure and horror. Horror comedy is a motion picture in which comedy episodes are organically combined with horror fragments, often parody films are referred to this subgenre. The fact is that original fear is as strong an emotion as joy. Horror films evoke this powerful emotion.

horror comedy
After watching a movie such as a horror comedy, the viewer is fully satisfied, because he was amused and well scared, and in general these feelings are similar. Moreover, the development of this genre is favored by the introduction of 3D technology. Pay attention to the announcements and posters: what is now in 3D? Fiction, fairy tales, horror films, that is, those films where special effects are needed, have something to show. To shoot comedy in a newfangled format is like throwing money away. But scaring is another matter: it is interesting that something crawls out of the screen, jumps out. And in this case, a horror comedy is ideal: fun and entertaining. Nevertheless, despite the flexibility and infinity, the inexhaustibility of the plots and the decent comedy of horrors, it’s not easy to shoot. The specifics of the genre require ingenuity and high skill from the entire creative group: from a screenwriter and director to actors.

"Black" cocktail

best comedy horror

The main component of the horror comedy is the familiar black humor, to which the lion's share of cynicism is added. Therefore, most often the entire comic effect consists of unguiled mockery of death itself, physical and psychological disabilities, that is, those or other macabre topics. Often, an excess of black humor brings the essence of the picture to absurdity. Such black humor is typical for Hollywood mainstream directors: the Cohen brothers “Barton Fink”, Robert Zemeckis “Death to her face”, Quentin Tarantino “Reservoir Dogs” and, of course, Tim Burton “Corpse of the Bride”. The best horror comedies make fun of even sacred or untouchable themes, such as the Edgar Wright film “A Zombie by the Name of Sean”. The comedy horror genre can be attributed to many different paintings, from R. Polanski's film “The Vampire Ball” to Nobuhiko Obayashi's painting “The House”.
