Bill Skarsgård was born in 1990 in a suburb of Stockholm. The actor grew up in a large family, where in addition to him there were seven more children. Beale's father, as well as his three brothers, are also actors. It is curious that the Bill family is the only people in Sweden who bear the surname Skarsgård. The fact is that in the twentieth century there were a large number of namesakes and in connection with this the authorities encouraged the introduction of new ones, so Bill’s grandfather himself created such a surname for himself and his children. In fact, it is pronounced “Skoshgord”, but Bill and his family had to come to terms with the fact that the whole world reads their last name in the English manner: “Skarsgård”.
Childhood and youth
Bill's father, the famous Swedish theater and film actor, as well as the winner of the Berlin film festival, toured the world a lot and often took sons with him. At the age of twelve, Bill Skarsgård spent several months in Cambodia, then visited Mexico and other countries. On numerous trips, the boy watched the lives of people of different nationalities, the diversity of cultures and the riches of nature. It was this experience that greatly helped Bill grow into a tolerant, neat and kind person.
The boy was interested in acting from an early age: he watched various programs on TV, and then parodied what was happening there, in front of the amazed parents and brothers. However, when he entered school and started his studies, Bill forgot about his acting career for a while, and for some time even dreamed of getting a degree, but fate, fortunately, ordered the guy differently.
The beginning of an acting career
Before reaching adulthood, Bill Skarsgård had already managed to star in some films. The first film role went to him at the age of eleven. Then he appeared in the Swedish film Jarnganget (2000), which also starred his older brother Alexander Skarsgard, known to the general public for his work in the films Big Big Lie, True Blood, Glass Wings and others. And also actor Bill Skarsgård starred in several more films: two Swedish short films and the series “Pappa Policy”.
In 2008, Bill, along with his father and brother, starred in the movie Arn: United Kingdom. The actor got the secondary, but very bright role of Knight Eric, which he played once again in the continuation of the film "Arn: Knight Templar" already in 2010. In the same 2010, Bill received his first serious roles, and brilliantly played in the drama “Beyond Blue Skies” (about the difficulties of adolescence and the difficult life of a teenager) and the comedy in the romantic style “There are no feelings in space”.
The first serious roles of Bill Skarsgård
In 2011, Bill starred in the movie "Royal Jewels", where the young actor was assigned the lead role. Together with him, the famous Swedish actress Alicia Vikander starred in the film. In the same year, Skarsgård won the Golden Beetle Award nomination for his brilliant performance in the drama Simon and Oaks, the plot of which unfolds during the Second World War.
In 2012, Bill received the Shooting Stars Awards, which each year is awarded to the ten most prominent young actors at the Berlin Film Festival. It can be said that the role of Mahotin in the film adaptation of Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy’s novel “Anna Karenina” brought Bill a real popularity. This role was the first work in a European film for Bill Skarsgård, and after it many directors drew attention to the young actor.
Further career of the actor
Another work that brought Skarsgard unprecedented popularity is the role of Roman Godfrey, a half-human half-vampire in the American thriller “Hemlock Grove”. After the release of the movie on large screens, Bill had a large number of fans, and a young actor with an attractive appearance began to decorate the covers of fashion magazines, including the famous Hero edition.
After that, Bill played in the scientific film "Divergent". In the film, Bill Skarsgard got the role of Matthew, the friend of the main character, who helped her not to make a huge mistake. In August 2017, Bill, along with Charlize Theron, starred in the movie "Explosive Blonde", the plot of which unfolds in Germany during the fall of the famous wall. The film tells about a secret service agent, on whom a very serious mission is assigned.
The personal life of Bill Skarsgård
In 2015, Bill became aware of the relationship with actress Alida Morberg, who is almost five years older than her partner. The actor admitted that he practically never happens at home: he is either "on the suitcases" or is leaving to shoot in different parts of the world. However, these transfers do not interfere with Bill Skarsgard in his personal life.
Actor now
In 2017, a film shot based on the work of Stephen King “It” appeared on Russian television screens. Skarsgård played the role of the clown Pennywise, one of the key characters in the film. A terrible clown was offered to play various actors, including Tim Curry, who already portrayed the character in the film adaptation of the nineties. However, the creators of the film still chose Skarsgård, and marked this event with the release of a press release with photos of Bill in the guise of a clown.
The film was a resounding success around the world and brought the actor unprecedented popularity. The plot of the film unfolds around the terrible events that take place in the small town of Derry. In it, children mysteriously begin to disappear. This turns out to be involved in the clown Pennywise, who inspires fear not only for kids but also for adults.
Despite the fact that the film belongs to the horror genre, it received positive reviews not only from viewers, but also from film critics. After a successful role in the film, Bill Skarsgård took part in several more film projects. At the moment, the actor is shooting in the sequel to the film “It,” which is expected to be released in 2019.
