The new action movie thriller "Hitman: Agent 47" was immediately dubbed by critics as not the most successful movie version of the series of the same name video games, which tells the story of a hit man under the code name agent 47. The numbers in the name are the last units of the barcode tattoo on the back of the agent's head.
Background
“Hitman: Agent 47” is a film with an interesting background. In general, all attempts to film a video game have a disgusting reputation, this film was no exception. The impression was spoiled by "Hitman" of 2007, the main mistake of the producers of which was the choice of the leading actor. Timothy Olyphant, usually a charismatic and bright performer, looked idiotic in the image of a killer shaved under zero. From him did not come a mortal threat to all living things, the character caused pity. Naturally, this was not the only problem of the film, but if the casting of the central character is failed, then such a movie falls apart like a house of cards. After some time, unrest among the audience and filmmakers-critics calmed down, and investors decided to shoot another film, but with a new director and performer of the main role. The planned new “Hitman: Agent 47” is a film that has nothing to do with the 2007 movie. He would have appeared at the box office a long time ago, but was delayed due to the tragic death of Paul Walker, who was supposed to perform in the guise of an invulnerable superkiller.
The plot for the uninitiated. Start
The story underlying the film “Hitman: Agent 47” is not commented on by reviews, unlike the script. A few years ago, a powerful secret organization financed the development of a clone warrior project. Genetically modified killers had heightened reflexes, all their emotions were suppressed, and their minds were particularly dodgy. The project was successful, but in the very final stage, the leading specialist had an insight - he realized that he had created. The awakened conscience of the supervisor prompted Dr. Litvenko to destroy all research results and disappear.
The essence of the intrigue
Many competent specialists took up the research, but not one of the followers was able to repeat its result. The secret organization, however, like its competitors, is ready for absolutely anything to find a fugitive genetics. A clone-hired killer, codenamed Agent 47 (Rupert Friend), is also involved in the search. Carrying out the task of employers, the killer pursues personal goals. Not without a beautiful partner, who is looking for her father. The main character is helped by the beauty Katya (Hannah Ware), who managed to reveal the secret of Litvenko's disappearance. After meeting a girl in a clone, emotions unfamiliar until this time awaken. He learns compassion, empathy, self-sacrifice. This is the description of the action movie "Hitman: Agent 47". Reviews from the audience regret that the creators did not go the traditional video game path.
Screenwriter work
All the same Skip Woods worked on the script for the new film, failing, according to film critics, work on the previous project. Analyzing the script of the movie "Hitman: Agent 47", the reviews note several positive points:
- The action takes place in Singapore and in Berlin, Agent 47 does not climb into Russia.
- The plot does not recede far from the famous mythology of a video game.
- Skip Woods does not fill the screen with secondary and completely unnecessary characters.
- The love line is not imposed on the main character.
- The central character is truly a professional killer, not a spiritualized brave man with a heroic mission.
However, the script is still far from perfect, since repeated attempts by the creators to captivate the audience with the emotional experiences of the heroes openly fail.
It will not be enough!
Polish-German debutant director Alexander Bach was previously engaged in filming videos and commercials, so he could not surprise the viewer with the abundance and power of battle scenes. In the vast majority of action scenes, the protagonist simply shoots the enemies, as if they were not fighters, but motionless dull targets. Its superiority is so obvious that it is sometimes uninteresting to watch the battles unfolding on the screen. A little enthusiasm for the viewer can be caused by episodes in which the main character deals with the enemy using methods that are slightly more sophisticated than a simple point-blank shot. Due to the modest budget of the film, there is only one complex and large-scale special effect scene (when a helicopter crashes into a structure at speed) and a couple of car stunts that cause genuine delight. It would be more funding, it is hard to imagine how cool Hitman: Agent 47 could be.
Actors and roles
In general, the casting of the project does not cause any particular complaints. And the performers of the main roles and minor coped with the task set by the director. The performers of the “bad guys” roles spoiled the impression about the actors' play, but more on that later.
The main character was embodied on the screen by a promising young actor Rupert Friend, whose honed and graceful game was at least pleasant to watch. The filmography of the actor barely exceeded twenty, but his professional suitability is beyond doubt. The killer in his performance impresses with a mean facial expression and bewitches with gliding movements. In some places, the Agent reminds everyone of the well-known liquid terminator from Doomsday. The performer manages with his habits, by all appearance, to provide the viewer with information about who he is and why he is who he is. Kieran Hinds, played the role of a geneticist, creator of agents is a fairly sought after actor. He is known to the viewer for the paintings "John Carter", "Woman in Black", "Ghost Rider 2", "Rite" and others. Throughout his career, he starred in more than 100 films. His experience and interaction with other actors allowed the atmosphere of the cinema to stay at a level without turning into a friend's benefit. Hannah Ware embodied the image of the "dark horse" Katie, who was the only informant thread, the companion of the protagonist. Together with Rupert, the actress composed a wonderful duet, because, in addition to beauty, she also has acting talent. But the performers of the roles of “bad guys” this time disappointed their fans. Somewhat upset Zachary Quinto. Earlier, the actor brilliantly played the main antagonist in the TV series “Heroes”, but in “Agent 47” he did not look more equal to Hitman, his constrained claim to rivalry looked like a feeble attempt. The role of Megaboss was played by Thomas Kretschman, but the character turned out to be dry, unrevealed, although it looked more convincing than the hero Quinto. But overall, casting the movie “Hitman: Agent 47” leaves a good impression. Actors and roles are matched to each other better than in the first "Hitman".

Annoying gamers fans
Perhaps the filmmakers needed to strictly follow the traditional video game plot and place several supervillains - “bosses” with supernatural abilities in the way of the protagonist, so that the Agent at least sometimes gets strained. And so the main character practically does not hide and does not hide, going ahead, which annoys gamers fans. And the scenario move plays along with him in every possible way, disturbing the audience even more.
