But events develop so that John Fitzgerald kills Hugh's son and, under the threat of death, forces Bridger to abandon the wounded hunter. But contrary to all circumstances, Hugh Glass does not die, but defies nature, the Indians and the cold winter. It is worth noting that in the Western "Survivor" actors conquered the audience with their game.
On his way, Glass will have to go through many hardships and trials. He repeatedly escapes from hostile Indians who have lost the leader’s daughter. Their suspicions fell primarily on the group that accompanied Hugh Glass. But it turned out that the daughter was abducted by the French, in whom the Indians exchanged skins of various animals for horses. By accident, the leader’s daughter was rescued by Hugh Glass, who entered the French camp to steal a horse. But soon, after another escape from the tribe of Indians, he was forced to open his belly of his dead horse so that he could spend the night there and not die from the cold.
In the end, Glass still manages to get to his camp, where the remains of his group are located in the person of Bridger and Fitzgerald. The latter, having learned about the rescue of Hugh, robs his own and soon escapes from the camp. It is worth noting that the actors of the film "Survivor" coped well with their roles, despite the fact that among them were lay people. After a short pursuit, Glass catches up with Fitzgerald and a hand-to-hand fight occurs between them. In it, the murderer of Glass's son was badly wounded. Hugh did not begin to kill his enemy, but gave the Indians the right to decide his fate. However, they did not show pity for Fitzgerald, scalping him and killing him. At the end of the film "Survivor", whose actors are not numerous, the main character climbs the slope on which his wife is daydreaming. In the final frame, his face is shown, Glass's gaze directed straight to the camera.

Creating such a masterpiece is not an easy job for many people. Filming of the film "Survivor", whose actors worked in unbearable conditions, took place in Canada and British Columbia, as well as in Argentina, where participants had to get in search of snow.
Especially for the shooting, several scenery were built: a hunters' camp, destroyed either by the Indians, or by the weather, a church, a fort and several villages. Moreover, during construction, those materials were used that corresponded to the era described in the film. True, the mountain of bison skulls was imitated using a wooden frame.
