Dmitry Shurov: biography, creativity and personal life

Shurov Dmitry Igorevich, better known as Pianoboy - one of the most popular musicians in Ukraine. Co-organizer of the Moloko Music Fest - Kiev festival, held in 2008 and 2009. He is the author of the soundtracks for the films “Servant of the People”, “Orange Love”, “Hottabych”, “Mysterious Island” and others. In 2017, the artist became a member of the jury of the Ukrainian X-Factor.

Biography

Dmitry Shurov was born in the city of Vinnitsa on October 31, 1981. The artist’s mother is a musician and teacher, and his father is an artist, poet and editor of TV programs. Dima plays the piano from the age of four. He graduated from music school.

Shurov is fluent in French and English, as he was a student at the Lyceum Auguste Renoir and a member of the American Flex exchange program. In the USA, the musician worked with a jazz orchestra, Barbershop quartet, and sang in an octet and choir. While studying in a theater class, Dmitry Shurov was an admirer of American musicals from the middle of the last century. Upon returning from the United States, he entered the Linguistic Institute in Kiev.

As for the personal life of Dmitry Shurov, the musician has a wife Olga Tarakanovskaya, the eldest daughter Margarita and son Leo. The singer and his family live in Kiev.

Shurov in the "Ocean of Elsa"

Members of the legendary Ukrainian group suggested Dmitry cooperation in 2000. Their first joint work was the song “From Bula Spring”, which was supposed to be included in the collection “Vesnyanka”. The work was not destined to see the light, although the acoustic version of the composition hit the album "Twіy format". The debut concert of Shurov and “Ocean Elsa” took place on April 1, 2000 in Odessa.

Together they created three studio albums (“Model”, “Supersimetria” and “Twіy format”) and played concerts in the CIS countries as part of four rounds - “Vimagai Bolshego”, “Supersimetria”, “Pacific Ocean” and “Short Writings for Ten” rock ". Partnership with Esthetic Education

In 2001, the singer met the Belgian composer and vocalist Louis Frank. A few years later, they began working together on the new Ukrainian musical group Esthetic Education. Over the four years of collaboration, Dmitry and Louis released such successful albums as Face Reading, Leave Us Alone, Live At Ring, Werewolf, and played many shows.

Shurov's work with Zemfira

In 2006, the inimitable Russian rock singer invited him to her group as a pianist. This event caused another radical change in the biography of Dmitry Shurov. The result of the joint activities of the musicians was reflected in the following albums and collections: “Thank you”, “Green Theater in Zemfira”, Z-Sides, “Zemfira.Live2” and “Crocus / Arrow”. Also Zemfira and D. Shurov managed to perform on stage together about a hundred times.

The era of Pianoboy

The work on the opera Leo and Leia prompted the musician to think of a solo career. In 2009, with the advent of the Pianoboy project, as the biography of Dmitry Shurov says, a new round began in his life. His first performance under this pseudonym was held as part of the second Moloko Music Fest. The next events at which Pianoboy sang were the fashion show of Lilia Litkovskaya, British Cinema Week and the celebration of the birthday of Harpers Bazar women's magazine.

At the end of 2009, Pianoboy presented on the radio stations and television channels the song "Sense ..net" and played his first solo performance in Kiev. The music video for the debut song was presented at the concert. In the last days of February 2010, Shurov went on a club tour in his native country. In 2011, Pianoboy and the Boombox band recorded the song Floors. After that, Dmitry Shurov began cooperation with the producer of the aforementioned team Alexei Sogomonov.

In December 2011, the artist presented the fans with the album "Brussels", which was created together with Ukrainian musicians such as S. Vakarchuk, S. Babkin, M. Malyshev and P. Chernyavsky. The Russian radio station Our Radio called Shurov “the opening of 2012” as part of the Chart Dozen Prize for the song “The Witch”. Then at the Lavina Music label the premiere of Pianoboy’s debut album entitled “Simple Things” took place. The next musical collection by Shurov, “Do not stop dreaming,” was released in the fall of 2013. He later won the ELLE Style Awards.

Singer Dmitry Shurov performed as part of the Okean Elzy band during Euromaidan and the anniversary concert of the musical team at Olimpiysky. In the spring of 2014, the Sovremennik Theater in Moscow staged the performance Cinderella based on a work by E. Schwartz. The composer of the production was Pianobo. On May 20, 2015, a memorable evening of Andrei Kuzmenko was held at the Sports Palace . At this concert Dmitry together with the musicians of the Skryabin project performed the song Champagne Och.

In 2015, the premiere of the third studio album Pianobo Take Off. The current project participants include the singer’s sister, Olga Shurova (guitar, backing vocals, percussion and keyboards), drummer Grigory Oleinik, guitarist Vladimir Pavlovsky, Sergey Vilka (flute), Denis Karachevtsev (cello), violinist Matvey Mironov and Nikolai Kistenev (Bas-guitar). At the moment, Pianoboy managed to present 16 music videos.
