A pre-stroke condition is one of the most dangerous manifestations of hypertension (a disease of high blood pressure) and cerebral atherosclerosis (a disease of blockage of brain vessels by plaques consisting of several types of tissue).
Signs of a pre-stroke condition are characterized by an increase in headache. Severe dizziness, nausea, and vomiting develop. Not only can a sharp increase in blood pressure occur, but also a sharp drop in it.
The danger of a pre-stroke condition is due to the fact that during it cerebral circulation is disturbed. Almost always, these disorders are acute, that is, in the nature of the stroke.
Symptoms of a pre-stroke state are diverse. However, an attempt to bring the most constant of them together gives the following picture:
- the head begins to hurt sharply (usually in the back of the head);
- noise in the ears;
- before the eyes "flies run";
- dizzy;
- it is impossible to cope with vomiting;
- vision is getting worse;
- subjectively there is a huge tension inside the whole body and as if “an inner ringing is heard”.
In this condition, a person can die in ten to fifteen minutes or even faster, since a pre-stroke condition can go into a stroke at any minute, and death from a stroke in most cases occurs instantly. The vessels of the brain burst or become clogged and, at best, partial or complete paralysis of the body occurs.
This is a serious health disorder due to an improper lifestyle, but it may just be a consequence of age-related changes in the body.
How to recognize a pre-stroke condition if the victim does not tell (or cannot) anything about his health?
It is necessary to offer him (her), if he (she) is conscious, to perform four small tasks:
- smile;
- pronounce a simple phrase, for example: “Today is a sunny day”;
- sit or stand for a few seconds with hands up;
- stick out your tongue as far as possible.
If you encounter problems during at least one of these tasks (for example, the tongue sticks out not straight but crooked to the side, the smile fails completely or the curve is also obtained - the victim smiles with only one half of his face), you must immediately call an ambulance »And tell the arriving doctors about the check done.
Prior to the arrival of an ambulance, it is necessary to relieve excess pressure. It is done like this. A tourniquet is selected (clamp). A lace, a chain, a wire, an elastic band - a pharmacy or a banking one, will do. With the greatest possible force, it is necessary to drag the first (thumb) finger of the left hand at its base - until complete loss of blood flow. If the banner is done correctly, the finger will begin to redden, then turn blue. Soon numbness of the hand may occur. This should not scare anyone, on the contrary, this is a sign of correct action.
The finger should remain tight for five to seven minutes. Then the collar is removed and begins to massage the finger towards the hand until blood flow is restored. As a result of this procedure, the pressure can be reduced by twenty-five to thirty units, for a period of 30-40 minutes. If the ambulance is late, you can repeat it in fifteen to twenty minutes, but no more than two times.
If the attack occurred at the patient’s home and it is already known about such attacks that have been experienced before, the medicine kit should contain a “Glycine” drug that improves cerebral circulation, and a one percent solution of “Semax” drops. Glycine is given from 2 to 4 tablets under the tongue, semax - two to three drops in each nostril.
What actions will be taken from the moment the ambulance arrives? The patient will receive an injection and pills to reduce pressure and to regulate cerebral circulation. The pre-stroke condition will be paused. Next, you need to see a doctor as soon as possible.
One of the causes of a stroke is blood clotting. To fight this, the doctor prescribes blood thinners. For his part, the patient can also help himself in this process.
To do this, he must:
- drink at least two liters of water daily;
- completely abandon the use of alcohol (otherwise - blood thickening and clogging of blood vessels);
- refuse any food containing fats, primarily - from fatty meat;
- there are small slices of lemon - it contributes not only to thin the blood, but also to alkalize it, which is necessary to maintain its correct consistency (composition).
Careful adherence to the advice of a doctor and the prevention of stroke, which must be maintained all my life after a previous stroke, will help delay the onset of a stroke or even completely avoid it.
