Headache is one of the most common ailments that no one can endure for a long time. There are many drugs, expensive and cheap, Russian and foreign, advertised and little known, but perhaps the most popular remedy for headaches is Citramon P. It is enough to drink only two tablets - and the pain immediately subsides.
What kind of miraculous medicine is this, is it worth taking it every time your head hurts? Indeed, this is exactly what many elderly people do for whom Citramon P is a โdesktopโ medicine.
Letโs try to figure out what is included in the drug โCitramon Pโ, the composition of which is different from the content of an old similar medicine, simply called citramon.
The fact is that the composition of citramone produced in far Soviet times included phenacetin, which had a fairly large number of undesirable side effects. And precisely because of its rather negative effect on the kidneys and liver, this well-known drug was discontinued and now that paracetamol is included in its composition instead of phenacetin, the letter P. is added to its name.
Citramon P is a combination drug that includes aspirin, paracetamol and caffeine. It has two functions: antipyretic due to acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol, and also analgesic, which is provided immediately by all three of the above components in its composition.
At the same time, caffeine is also a psychostimulant that has an exciting effect on the nervous system, relieving drowsiness and fatigue, and aspirin, in addition to a certain anti-inflammatory effect, reduces the tendency of the body to form blood clots, and increases the tone of the brain vessels, including the brain. All components included in citramon P complement each other, enhancing the effects of each individually. This is why older people tolerate this medicine so well.
Citramon, the use of which must be agreed with the doctor, can be drunk with the following ailments:
- with moderate headaches and migraines;
- toothache;
- muscle and joint, as well as pain along the nerve;
- pain during menstruation;
- high temperature resulting from the common cold or infectious disease;
- rheumatic diseases as a mild anti-inflammatory drug.
Like any medicine, citramon P also has contraindications. It can not be taken with:
- peptic ulcer of the duodenum and stomach;
- impaired renal or liver function, especially in the elderly;
- gastrointestinal bleeding, even if they happened a very long time;
- violations of blood coagulability and a tendency to increased bleeding, which increases during surgery;
- gout, i.e. metabolic disorders of uric acid in the body;
- enzymatic deficiency, which may result in anemia;
- glaucoma;
- an allergic reaction to aspirin, "aspirin" bronchial asthma, causing cramping in the bronchi.
Citramon P can not be taken in the first three months of pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as children under the age of 15 years.
Among other restrictions on the use of this drug is the duration of administration. You canโt drink it for more than three days without consulting a doctor. It is also forbidden to combine this medicine with anticonvulsants and sleeping pills, the effect of which it enhances.
You should also refrain from alcoholic beverages if you are taking Citramon P.
If during taking Citramon P there is heartburn, abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea, then stop it. The first aid in these cases is gastric lavage or activated carbon tablets.
