Most people on the planet have an eye tick. However, not everyone can develop a disease called demodecosis. It is a lesion of the skin, which occurs due to the active life of the parasite tick.
Such a harmful and pathogenic eye tick most often lives in the skin sebaceous glands or in the glands of the eyelids and often even in the hair follicles. Moreover, these parasites have tiny sizes. They are so invisible that the human eye can hardly determine their presence.
In the human body, the eye tick actively multiplies, and at high temperature even shows its highest activity. That is why exacerbations of this disease occur in the warm season.
Eye tick. Symptoms of the disease
The longer the eye tick is present in the human body, the faster the balance of their “relationship” occurs: between the influence of the parasite and the immune system. Therefore, as soon as this peaceful existence is violated in any way possible, lesions and irritations on the skin instantly appear.
Many factors can cause such a reaction:
- high temperature conditions (heat, bath, sauna, etc.);
- eye surgery;
- significant sun exposure;
- diseases of the nervous system;
- hormonal problems;
- decreased immunity;
- disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
A symptom of demodicosis is most often redness of the skin. Especially in the eye area. Irritation manifests itself as the formation of peeling and small swollen bubbles. People suffering from this disease complain that their eyes get tired very quickly , eyebrows and eyelids itch . Often, they even feel burning and tingling in the eyes. It may also seem that there is sand in the eyes or something is interfering.
When the tick is activated, foamy discharge constantly occurs in the eyes. They often have to be removed from the corners of the eyes. Demodecosis also causes a significant disruption of the glands of the eyelids. Sometimes gray scales appear between the eyelashes, severe redness, and the glands themselves are significantly expanded. Along the edge of the eyelid there are small pustular formations. It is worth noting that postponing a visit to a doctor causes serious problems.
Diagnosis of the disease
At the first symptoms of the presence of an eye tick in a patient, you should definitely consult an ophthalmologist. Diagnosis of the problem itself is very simple and does not require much time. The doctor removes several eyelashes to determine the presence of parasites. Fill eyelashes with a special substance and examine under a microscope.
Eye tick. Treatment
To get rid of the eye tick will require a little patience and qualified treatment. It is very long, lasts about 5-6 weeks and consists of the use of several types of drugs:
- Tick-borne. The most common way to combat the parasite is to treat the skin with a mercury ointment. However, it is very toxic, and it is not recommended to use this drug for more than 4 weeks. It is contraindicated for pregnant women. Tar, amitrazole, ichthyol ointment and much more are increasingly used.
- Ointments for the treatment of glaucoma. They allow you to completely immobilize ticks. Among these drugs, armin, phosphacol, tosmylene, etc. are distinguished.
In no case should you use ointments containing hormones to treat demodicosis. They, on the contrary, contribute to the reproduction of ticks.
If the consequence of the disease is dry eye syndrome, there is a need to dig in special artificial tears. Additionally, you can treat the eyelids with special tinctures (wormwood or tansy). Doctors often prescribe magnetotherapy for patients with demodicosis or exposure to the D'Arsonval apparatus.
It is necessary to undergo treatment for diseases associated with the tick. This is seborrhea, and visual impairment, and problems with the internal organs of a person. As soon as the main course of treatment for demodicosis has been completed, be sure to rub burdock oil for another 3-4 months. This will contribute to the active growth of eyelashes. With improvements in the first stages of treatment of the disease, you do not need to throw it. This can lead to relapse.
