Sauces have long and firmly entered our lives as a product that enriches the taste of any dish. We often use ketchup in everyday life, and mayonnaise is so often used in cooking that we cannot imagine life without it. It seems to us that the taste of the dish is not at all the same. But, I must say that in Soviet times, the hostesses did not know much variety in sauces and were able to cook them only in isolated restaurants. But in our time, a huge number of recipes are available, according to which you can cook various flavoring seasonings. They are also sold ready-made in all supermarkets, but nothing can be compared with hand-made products.
In particular, today I want to talk more about such a wonderful tasty sauce like Tartar. He is now quite famous and is often used even in everyday life.
The Tartar sauce recipe originated in France in the 19th century, during the Crusades, when the French met on their way the nomadic Tatars, whose name was named sauce. This sauce is usually served with fish dishes, seafood dishes, as well as cold meat snacks.
Preparation of the sauce takes a matter of minutes, but in order for it to acquire the true taste peculiar only to it, the sauce must be in the refrigerator for at least an hour before use and served cold.
The Tartar sauce recipe is based on mayonnaise with the addition of vegetables and herbs that give the sauce a specific taste.
There are two cooking options: a quick recipe for Tartar sauce (if you use ready-made mayonnaise) and a longer one (includes making mayonnaise at home).
How to make tartar sauce?
For quick cooking we need the following ingredients:
- mayonnaise to your taste 120 g.
- finely chopped gherkins 1 tbsp. the spoon
- finely chopped onions 1 tbsp. the spoon
- finely chopped capers 1 tbsp. the spoon
- freshly squeezed lemon juice 1 tbsp. spoons
- salt, black pepper to taste
So, take mayonnaise and put it in a deep bowl, add salt and pepper to it to taste. Gherkins, onions and capers, previously finely chopped, mix and pour into mayonnaise. Mix well together and add freshly squeezed lemon juice. When our sauce is ready, it is necessary to put it in the refrigerator for an hour and a half, so that it acquires its characteristic taste. Everything can be served.
Some spicy lovers add a little garlic to the Tartar sauce, squeezing it through a garlic squeezer.
There you can also add greens to taste, for example, finely chopped dill.
How to cook tartare completely at home?
There is another recipe for Tartar sauce, which includes making mayonnaise yourself. To do this, we need the following ingredients:
For mayonnaise:
- egg yolks 2 pcs.
- olive oil 300 ml.
- white grape vinegar 2 teaspoons
- granulated sugar 0.5 teaspoon
- salt and pepper to taste
For the sauce:
- finely chopped gherkins 1 tbsp. the spoon
- finely chopped onions 1 tbsp. the spoon
- finely chopped capers 1 tbsp. the spoon
- freshly squeezed lemon juice 1 tbsp. spoons
In order to make mayonnaise at home, you must have a blender (although you can do without it). We put all the ingredients for mayonnaise in a blender and beat until smooth. This does not apply to olive oil, it is added gradually in a thin stream and slowly mixed. Got mayonnaise. Now you can proceed directly to the preparation of Tartar sauce. In the future, the tartar sauce recipe is the same as described above.
Such self-made sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than three days.
