Character Creation
The main idea of ​​the script about a detective revealing crimes with the help of a rare sense of smell came to the Ukrainian director Artem Litvinenko a long time ago. And as the main character acquired character traits, his habits and way of life, “Sniffer” (the actors who played the main roles deserve special attention) gained its storyline. Despite the fact that the eight-episode film is eight independent detective stories, they are all interconnected by the main characters with their problems and relationships.
So, a certain European city (it is worth noting that, despite the hints in the dialogs and car numbers near Moscow, the film was completely shot in Kiev and the region). In an apartment equipped with the latest technology, a peculiar person lives with a rare gift - he is able to recognize thousands of smells. He knows how the money smells, what a person ate for breakfast and can even recognize a picture fake under the brush of a great Russian artist (smelling the component on the basis of which the paint was created and, therefore, could not be used by the artist). In his apartment, he also equipped himself with a laboratory, where, among other things, in special test tubes there is a hand-collected collection of odors.
Friend and assistant
Each talent has a price. The hero of the series “Sniffer” paid for it (the actors and roles will be examined a little later) - he leads a lonely, almost ascetic life. He is divorced from his wife, but he cannot make contact with his son. Arriving at the crime scene, he meets there whispering employees behind him, which can also be attributed to his talent.
Despite problems with others, he has a friend - lieutenant colonel (and a little later colonel) of the Special Bureau of Investigation, with whom they solve crimes. And despite the sometimes rather rough treatment, he is always ready to help his talented comrade.
International recognition
There is one factor that explains the unexpected success of the film “Sniffer” - the actors clearly enjoyed participating in the shootings, which, of course, had a positive effect on the popularity of the film. The series has become the most popular both in Ukraine and in Russia (having beaten all the ratings for the last five years). And the success of this television product abroad has become so high that the rights to adapt it were bought by France and Japan (The Land of the Rising Sun is going to release its version by 2016). Even the creators themselves did not expect such success. The Ukrainian company “Film UA” began work on the project at its own peril and risk, without having an order and financing of any channel. However, even before the premiere of the first season of the series, in the process of completing the work, it was already clear that something worthwhile would turn out. Therefore, work on the continuation scenario began already then.
"The Sniffer." Season 2
The actors playing the main roles remained the same, however new characters appeared. But if the series of the first season were independent affairs and were not united among themselves, except for the common life of the heroes, then in the sequel they already acquired a common storyline. And all the cases disclosed are links in one chain. Now our odor collector has an adversary who will have to confront for the new eight series.
Director Artyom Litvinenko attracted a new cameraman to the crew of the second season of the film “Sniffer” (the actors were very happy to join the crew again), and with a world-famous name - Graham Freyk. Among the master’s numerous films, there are such series as Doctor Who, Purely English Killings, Downton Abbey and many others. In addition, the mini-series has more special effects and complex tricks that the actors in most cases performed independently, which raised the second season to a higher level. It is worth noting that the eminent operator gladly accepted the invitation to participate in such an interesting project as Sniffer.

Kirill Käro (Sniff) is a native of Tallinn (Estonia). After graduating from high school in 1992, he entered the Theater School. Schukin, and upon graduation he became a member of the theater troupe under the leadership of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan. Then he worked at the Russian Theater of Estonia. In 2005, he was busy at the Praktika Theater. He gained wider fame after the role of Slavik in the television series “Liquidation”. The main role in the film “Sniffer” (the actors for the series were selected right away) came up right away, from the first test. According to Cyril himself, the most difficult was to operate with chemical terms. Also, especially for the filming, he had to urgently take extreme driving courses.
Ivan Oganesyan (Victor, a friend of the Sniffer) at the very beginning entered the Faculty of Music, the acting course of the Directing Department (GITIS). October 23, 2002 took part in the musical “Nord-Ost” and, together with other participants in the tragic events, was taken hostage by terrorists. In "Sniffer" he played a partner and a true friend of the protagonist. Ivan’s character, Victor, has a good command of martial arts and is a great admirer of female beauty. For the sake of his role in Sniffer, Ivan Hovhannisyan had to master the Japanese art of hand-to-hand combat of jujitsu.
Maria Anikanova (Julia, the former wife of the protagonist) - Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. Until the age of 16, she was engaged in ice skating, and her trainers were Tatyana Tarasova, Samvel Gazalyan, Gennady Akkerman. After graduating from the Shchukin Theater School in 1995, she began working at the Sovremennik Theater in Moscow (where she still serves).
Nina Gogaeva (Tatyana Voskresenskaya, lady of the heart of the Sniffer) - theater, film and stage actress. From childhood she was engaged in vocals. At school she took part in theatrical performances. After school, she entered the Boris Schukin Theater Institute, and after graduation she was admitted to the Moscow Art Theater. As a character, Tatyana (in “Sniffer”) becomes the beloved of the protagonist and, after some communication, reciprocates him. However, their relationship is being severely tested.
Nikolai Chindyaykin (Major General Bondarev, head of the RRF) - People's Artist of Russia, teacher and theater director. A native of the Urensky district of the Gorky region. In the period from 1959 to 1964 he lived with his family in Ukraine. After school, he was hired by the Rostov Youth Theater, and after - the Omsk Drama Theater. In 1987, having graduated from the Directing Department (GITIS), he begins work as a director, teacher and actor ("School of Dramatic Art. Anatoly Vasiliev"). In "Sniffer" he played the wise and fair immediate boss Victor.
Agne Grudite (Irina Nordin, forensic expert of the highest category) - Lithuanian actress (Siauliai). After university, she received the specialty "Pop Art". She began acting in films since 2010.
