"Mikospor" is a complex antifungal drug for external application. A medication is produced in the form of an ointment.
The drug is a homogeneous mass, white. It is released from drugstores in aluminum tubes of ten grams. According to the instructions for the kit "Mikospor", the kit also includes a waterproof patch, scraper and dispenser for ointment.
The composition of the drug includes the following substances:
- urea;
- bifonazole;
- petroleum jelly;
- wax;
- lanolin.
Pharmacological actions
According to the instructions, the use of "Mikospor" is due to the active components that make up the ointment.
Urea has a keratoplastic effect. It softens the fibrillar protein of an infected nail, with the help of which it enhances the depth of the second active component, bifonazole, which has an antifungal effect. This active substance is a derivative of imidazole, which has an extensive spectrum of antimycotic effects.
The drug inhibits the biological synthesis of ergosterol at two different levels, which differs from other antifungal drugs. Using this action, structural and functional damage of the cytoplasmic membrane of the fungus is carried out.
According to the instructions for use with Mikospor, it is known that the active ingredient has a fungicidal effect on dermatophytes. Bifonazole adversely affects pityriasis versus mold and yeast.
When infected with the latter, bifonazole only has a fungistatic effect. According to the results of clinical trials, in primary sensitive strains, secondary resistance does not occur. The use of bifonazole in combination with urea increases the antimycotic effect of the Mikospor kit.
When applying Mikospor ointment externally from a fungus, the absorption of the drug is from two to four percent of the applied dosage. In the treatment of lesions of the nail plate, the content of bifonazole in the blood is always below normal, therefore, no systemic effects are manifested.
Indications
"Mikospor" is prescribed for the elimination of fungal infections of the nail, as well as for non-surgical removal of affected nails on the hands and feet.
Contraindications
The following conditions and diseases are bans on the use of the drug:
- The first trimester of pregnancy.
- Lactation.
- Increased sensitivity to any component of the drug.
With extreme caution, the drug is used in the following situations:
- The second and third trimesters of pregnancy.

How to apply "Mikospor"?
The medication is intended for external use. The ointment must be applied to the affected nails once a day so that it covers the entire area of ββthe affected nail plate with a thin layer.
Each diseased nail should be sealed with a band-aid and left for twenty-four hours. After a day, the plasters are removed, then the nails should be kept in warm water for about ten minutes, after which the softened part of each infected nail plate should be removed with a scraper.
At the end of the procedure, it is necessary to dry the damaged areas, again apply the ointment and glue it with a plaster. When using the product, care should be taken and not to allow it to get on the skin that is adjacent to the nail in order to avoid the appearance of irritation. If symptoms of an unpleasant state have arisen, before sticking the patch the surface of the skin near the nail should be lubricated with a cream containing zinc.
Dressings should be changed daily. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually. Therapy should be carried out until the affected layer is completely removed. Depending on the thickness of the nail plate and the degree of fungal infection, this takes seven to fourteen days. As soon as the infected part of the nail is completely eliminated, and the nail bed becomes smooth, the therapy is continued with Mikospor cream.
The drug is applied to the nail bed once a day for one month. If within one week of using the product there is no positive dynamics, or the condition of the nail has worsened, it is necessary to seek the help of a dermatologist.
Adverse reactions
When using "Mikospor", the following negative reactions from the skin and subcutaneous tissues can be observed:
- Rashes.
- Erythema (severe redness of the skin caused by the expansion of capillaries).
- Desquamation (scaly desquamation of the epithelium or other tissues from the surface of an organ that occurs in a normal state or as a result of pathological processes).
- Maceration (physiological or pathological process of wet loosening, impregnation and swelling of the epidermis caused by prolonged or periodic exposure to liquids).
- Contact dermatitis (an inflammatory reaction of the skin to contact with an irritant).
- Pain at the site of application and in the limb.
The above reactions are reversible and are eliminated after drug withdrawal.
Poisoning
Since "Mikospor" is used to eliminate fungal lesions of the nail plate, after one application of the cream on the skin, an overdose is unlikely. If the drug is accidentally inside, the likelihood of signs of poisoning is also extremely low.
Features
It is not recommended to allow the drug to enter the organs of vision. Do not use "Mikospor" orally. According to the instructions for use, the drug does not have a negative effect on the rate of reactions.
Can I use the drug during pregnancy and lactation
According to research, the active components of "Mikospor" do not adversely affect either the womanβs body during the "interesting situation" or the fetus. Controlled studies of the use of the drug in pregnant women have not been conducted, and therefore caution should be exercised (according to the instructions for "Mikospor").
According to reviews, it is known that the medicine is not prescribed in the first trimester, and also with extreme caution, and after assessing the ratio of possible benefits and risks, it is used in the second and third trimesters. It is not known whether the active micronutrients of the drug pass into breast milk. In this connection, lactation should be stopped if treatment is required.
In the course of the studies, information was obtained that suggests that bifonazole does not adversely affect male fertility. Urea does not adversely affect sperm. There is no information on the effect on female fertility. Special care must be taken when treating children.
Interaction
The use of bifonazole together with warfarin can lead to an increase in the effect of the latter, as well as provoke bleeding and the appearance of hematomas. In this regard, people who receive warfarin should be under medical supervision during antifungal treatment with Mycospore.
Ointment "Mikospor": analogues and storage features
The following medicines are substitute drugs:
- Mycozone.
- Sertamikol.
- "Bifosin."
- "Ecodax".
- "Travogen".
- Zalain.
- Misol.
- Mycoderil.
- Mycostop.
Shelf life - thirty-six months, subject to temperature conditions - not more than thirty degrees. Keep away from children. The drug is dispensed without a prescription from a medical specialist.
Mykozon
The active substance has an antifungal effect. It also counteracts the production of ergosterol, helps change the lipid composition and permeability of the cell wall.
The main active component of the drug is detrimental to dermatophytes, yeast fungi, and also has an antimicrobial effect in relation to gram-positive microorganisms. Instantly eliminates itching and irritation on the skin. This cream is an analogue of Mikospor. The fungus elimination kit can be replaced by other means.
"Sertamikol"
A local antifungal medicine, the effect of which is due to the ability to suppress the process of combining the main sterol of fungal membranes and ergosterol, as well as increase the permeability of the cell membrane, as a result of which the fungal cell dissolves.
When applied externally, the drug is poorly absorbed through the skin, therefore it has absolutely no systemic effect, is not found in urine and blood. "Sertamikol" is an analogue of "Mikospor".
The drug is not intended to eliminate eye diseases. Before therapy, you should carefully read the instructions for use. If questions arise, you can consult a doctor. The medication cannot be transferred to other people, even if they have similar diseases, since Sertamikol can cause damage if used without the appointment of a medical specialist.
It is important to avoid contact of the ointment-treated skin areas with detergents, since in an acidic environment, the growth of Candida bacteria increases.
Special care should be taken when using the drug. If Sertamikol gets into the organs of vision, they must be washed with water. If adverse reactions occur, you need to stop therapy and consult a doctor.
Mycoderil
The active ingredient is naphthyne. The drug refers to antifungal medications that belong to allylamines. The spectrum of its effect is due to the ability to inhibit epoxidases, as a result of which the formation of ergosterol, which is part of the structure of the cell wall of the fungus, is reduced.
Mycoderil is an analogue of Mycospore. The drug has antimicrobial activity against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms that provoke the appearance of secondary bacterial infections. With the anti-inflammatory effect, the drug helps to quickly eliminate the signs of the inflammatory process, especially itching.
Opinions
Feedback on Mycospore from nail fungus is usually positive. They confirm the increased effectiveness of the antifungal drug and suggest that thanks to it, even advanced forms of onychomycosis can be eliminated. Medical experts highlight this medication as a good alternative to surgery, which helps to eradicate an infected nail plate without surgery.
The main advantage is the safety of the drug, but it should be used carefully to treat children, as well as pregnant and lactating women. You can consider the drug as one of the effective and popular medicines, which in a short period of time is able to eliminate nail fungus.
Reviews about the set are contradictory. Some people confirm its increased effectiveness and write that it was thanks to this tool that they were able to eliminate onychomycosis. Others, on the contrary, describe the drug as ineffective and too expensive. The cost of the set varies from 500 to 1200 rubles.
