Signs of high blood pressure and intracranial. Symptoms and causes

Hypertension, as a chronic disease, is the leading cause of premature adult mortality. Considering that more than 40% of people in this category have signs of increased pressure , it becomes the “companion” of our technogenic society.

However, the disease does not appear suddenly. She begins to “send signals” in advance, but only usually a person is not yet able to perceive them as a threat to health. Therefore, no preventive actions are taken on time, and even with the development of a chronic form, changes in the body become irreversible.

The initial signs of high blood pressure are as follows:

  • the body gets tired very quickly;
  • there are headache attacks;
  • "Visits" tinnitus.

With the frequent manifestation of these symptoms, you need to undergo an examination to confirm or exclude the presence of grade I hypertension and understand why the pressure rises to the level of 160/100 mm. mercury column. At this stage, there is no damage to the systems and organs that regulate blood pressure. Primary hypertension is amenable to correction with the help of lifestyle changes, the use of exercise therapy. In case of non-compliance with the main recommendations of the doctor, it can develop into a chronic form - secondary.

II and III degrees of the disease already have a different blood pressure threshold - 180/110 and 200/120 mm. mercury, respectively. At this stage, the following signs of high blood pressure can be distinguished:

  • frequent headaches;
  • fatigue and dizziness;
  • the presence of blood rushing to the face, chest pain and tinnitus;
  • there are nosebleeds.

In this case, it will be necessary to change the lifestyle and, especially, nutrition, as well as drug treatment, which should be prescribed by the therapist.

Increased intracranial pressure results from serious, diverse brain diseases.

Very dangerous is its presence in infants. The main signs of increased intracranial pressure in the newborn are as follows:

  • the presence of a convex forehead, a large head and a strongly swollen venous network;
  • rapid growth of head volume and bulging fontanel between sutures;
  • the child’s eyes fall down (the setting sun effect);
  • he is far behind in development, lethargic and sleepy;
  • there is constant regurgitation and almost no weight gain.

Such symptoms are often signs of hydrocephalus, the development of which can have both congenital and acquired causes (for example, birth injury).

The sooner treatment of the newborn is started, the better, since its absence will lead to the progression of diseases and mental retardation. Moreover, as a rule, surgical intervention is used in the form of installing a special shunt, with which excess fluid will be drained from the cavity.

This disease can occur in both children and adults under the influence of the following reasons: the presence of brain tumors; previous encephalitis, trauma and meningitis; the appearance of adhesions after operations on the brain.

The main signs of intracranial pressure are as follows:

  • severe night pains that begin to increase in the morning;
  • vomiting and nausea;
  • doubles in the eyes, and flashes appear in front of the eyes;
  • there is pain behind the orbits;
  • weakness and fatigue;
  • irritability, apathy and drowsiness.

The existing symptoms should be a signal in order to immediately contact a specialist, since the development of any disease is possible.

In general, you need to be aware that intracranial pressure and signs of high blood pressure are usually a symptom of some serious illness that needs to be identified.
