The medicine 'Dermoveit': instruction, analogues

One of the effective drugs for the treatment of certain types of psoriasis, discoid lupus erythematosus, lichen planus is the medicine “Dermoveit”. The instruction for this medication indicates that it can be produced in the form of ointment or cream. 100 g of cream contains 0.05 g of the active substance called clobetasol propionate. The same amount is contained in the ointment. Means differ from each other only by fillers and auxiliary components.

The ointment consists of sorbitan sesquioleate, propylene glycol and soft paraffin. The cream contains cetostearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, arlacel, purified water, glycerol monostearate, citric acid monohydrate, chlorocresol, white wax.

In addition to the listed diseases, the Dermoveit drug (instructions indicate this) is recommended for the treatment of skin diseases that could not be cured with less powerful drugs. The reviews received as a result of a survey of experts indicate a high coefficient of action of this tool.

Glucocorticosteroid clobetasol propionate, which is part of Dermoveit cream and Dermoveit ointment, eliminates swelling, stops itching, has a good anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect.

This high-quality drug, like all medicines, has some contraindications. Dermoveit (instructions caution) is not indicated for pink or vulgar youthful acne, viral skin lesions, genital itching, or perianal itching. You can not use the drug "Dermoveyt" pregnant and lactating.

In addition, with prolonged and especially uncontrolled use of the drug, adverse side effects may occur. Dermoveit ointment (the instructions clearly indicate this) can cause inhibition of adrenal function or pituitary gland. Especially often this happens if the ointment or cream is used to treat large areas of the skin. The likelihood of this kind of side effects enhances the treatment with an airtight dressing. In children, diapers can cause complications, the effect of which can be compared with the effect of an occlusive dressing.

In adults, the drug “Dermoveit” (the instruction speaks about this) can cause a change in skin color, thinning or termination of hair growth, and the appearance of age spots. Sometimes in the first days of applying the cream or ointment, the symptoms of the underlying disease may worsen. Among local reactions during the use of the drug, the appearance of itching, burning was noted. Usually, when side effects occur, the dose of the drug is reduced or completely canceled.

Is an overdose of Dermoveit possible? Given the relatively small concentration of the therapeutic substance in 100 g of cream or ointment, an overdose is unlikely. However, prolonged use of the drug to treat very large areas of the body can exacerbate the symptoms of the disease or cause side effects.

Is it possible to replace Dermoveit with other formulations? It is possible, but only after consulting with a dermatologist.

The Polish Cloveit, the Indian Powercourt (cream) and Clobetasol, which is produced in the UK, are considered analogues of the Polish Dermoveit product.

All of these drugs are applied in a very thin layer to the affected areas of the skin. To enhance the effect, the doctor may recommend occlusive (sealed) dressings. The duration of the treatment course is determined only by a specialist. Usually, the course lasts until the affected areas disappear completely.

For the treatment of hyperkeratosis (lesions of the scalp), Dermoveit Lotion is recommended. It is usually rubbed into the scalp. During the day, the head is left open, and at night the effect of the lotion is enhanced by applying a bandage.

To achieve a lasting effect, experts recommend continuing to use the medicine once a day after a complete cure.
