A little history of seahorses
Before answering the question of how to draw seahorses, you need to know a little about them. Seahorse appeared not so long ago, as scientists say, this is a mutated species of needle fish.
These creatures prefer to live surrounded by algae, as they have a unique property - mimicry. It is because of this fact that people think that there are a lot of varieties of seahorses. This is actually not the case. There are 32 of them, but since each of them knows how to change color, the variety of colors of the seahorses is amazing.
Many will be surprised, but this species of fish is inactive. They attach with their tail to the algae and in this state spend up to 10 hours, catching food for themselves.
Pencil technique
Anyone who has ever thought about how to draw a seahorse with a pencil understands that you need to start with a sketch:
- First you need to outline the general form. At the first stage, the head should look like a horse's, and the body should be like the base of a treble clef symbol.
- If the seahorse is drawn surrounded by algae, it must be borne in mind that the size of this fish does not exceed 20 cm.
- Having sketched the first shape, you need to proceed to the first drawing. At this stage, the head of a seahorse is similar to the head of a crocodile, a large skull box and a long trunk-shaped nose.
- Spikes need to be added to the body of this bizarre fish. They start from the head and continue right up to the tail.
- And, of course, at the base of the tail, on the back, you need to draw a small fin.
- When the overall outline is ready, you need to move on to the details.
- We cut off a thin strip from the back - this area does not need further elaboration. On the rest of the body, evenly and, most importantly, in shape, apply horizontal stripes.
