History of Russian Humor
The Crooked Mirror miniature theater, whose actors worked in a humorous genre, was created at the beginning of the 20th century in St. Petersburg. The idea of the project belonged to the screenwriter Zinaida Kholmskaya.
The theater did not have its unique name until 1912. Then the famous Russian poet and publicist Alexander Izmailov released a book with various skits. An agreement was signed with ORT on the shooting of a comedy show. Viewers saw the first release in January 2003. High ratings of the program spoke for themselves. The Crooked Mirror, whose actors cheered up the whole country, has become a favorite entertainment TV show.
