Petr Marchenko was born in December 1969. His family lived in Moscow, his parents had a good education and belonged to the intelligentsia. His mother's name is Olga Efimovna, and she was a researcher, and his father, Valentin Petrovich, worked as an editor of documentary films and a journalist. A little later, Marchenko Sr. held a very high position at Mosfilm and worked in one of the Moscow newspapers. Unfortunately, Peter's father has already passed away, but it is likely that the love and thirst for life on the other side of the blue screen was transmitted to the popular TV presenter from his father.
In one of his recent interviews, Petr Valentinovich admitted that in childhood, like many guys, he dreamed of becoming a pilot. The young man was taken very seriously by such ideas regarding his future profession, but a spinal injury prevented him from translating them into reality.
After graduating from school, Petr Marchenko first received a philological education, having studied at the faculty of Russian literature and language. And only a few years later, in 1991, he graduated from the faculty of journalism at Moscow State University, having received his second higher education as a journalist.
Career on the radio
Petr Marchenko began his labor activity as a presenter on the radio Echo of Moscow. There he worked for 4 years in the news information program. We can say that he got this position by accident, because his mother, listening to this radio station, once found out that a set of presenters was taking place there.

Peter approached him and simply asked to take him to work on NTV channel. Marchenko said that he was counting on the post of correspondent, but when he was offered to work as a presenter of an information program, he did not hesitate for a long time and immediately agreed. So, since 1996, Petr Marchenko is a TV presenter on the NTV channel. Initially, he led the morning and afternoon broadcasts of the Today program, and since 2001, in turn with T. Mitkovskaya, he has also starred in evening releases.
There are rumors that over time, conflicts began to arise between Marchenko and Mitkovskaya, who at that time was also the chief editor on NTV. This state of affairs coincided with the fact that Pyotr Valentinovich received an enviable offer to work on Channel One from K. Ernst himself. And this time, Marchenko did not refuse the next advantageous offer. Having got to the First Channel, cherished for many, at different time periods he conducted such programs as:

Personal life
For his 46 years, the TV presenter managed to be officially married three times. Almost nothing is known about his first wife. In his second marriage, he had a son, Valentin, who was most likely named after his grandfather. At the moment, the TV presenter lives with his third wife - Svetlana. They met during a traffic jam when their cars stood parallel to each other. The woman stared at the pretty driver, and he handed her his business card in response. She called Peter back, they met and stayed together.
At the same time, Petr Marchenko, whose wife has been living with him for several years, does not make any sudden conclusions and does not claim that this marriage may be the last. In one of his interviews, the TV presenter said that only time will tell how many years she and Svetlana will be able to live together.
