When a person passes a urine test, laboratory assistants check it for the presence or absence of several indicators characterizing diseases of systems and organs. One of these indicators is salts in the urine, which, when urine settles, begin to precipitate. When the salt concentration is high, a precipitate forms in any case.
In the urine, either an acidic or alkaline environment may predominate. If the urine is acidic, then salts such as uric acid crystals, oxalates and urates can be found in it. When urine has an alkaline base, tripelphosphate salts, amorphous phosphates, phosphaturia precipitate. The presence of alkaline salts in the sediment indicates the development of urolithiasis.
It should not be excluded that salts in the urine, the causes of which many see only in diseases, may appear as a result of eating certain products. So, uric acid crystals can be the result of eating a large number of meat products, as well as with severe sweating and low levels of fluid intake.
When a person has urine in his urine, they can be seen with the naked eye. Salts of this kind in the urine appear with fever, leukemia, and also with a huge loss of fluid, which happens with diarrhea, vomiting, and profuse sweating.
The presence of oxalates in the urine can be caused by the use of sorrel, apples, tomatoes and oranges. When their number exceeds the permissible norm, this indicates the development of urolithiasis or diabetes. Also, causes may be poisoning with antifreeze and brake fluid. As a rule, most patients who have been diagnosed with persistent oxalate in their urine have pyelonephritis. Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, chronic vitamin B6 deficiency, and excessive consumption of ascorbic acid may also be the cause of these salts . The main way to lower the level of oxalates in the urine is a strict diet :
- Exclusion from the diet of chocolate products, sorrel, citrus fruits, any currant, rose hip, as well as ascorbic acid and meat broths.
- It is allowed to eat fruits, dairy products, sour cream, vegetable and butter, wheat bread.
- Of the medicines prescribed magnesium and vitamin B6.
Tripelphosphates can appear as a result of eating exclusively plant foods, as well as with cystitis. Amorphous salts in the urine are also the result of a constant plant diet. It can also serve as an occasion for the diagnosis of kidney stones and cystitis.
It should be remembered that urine in itself is a solution of salts. When some salts precipitate, this indicates their excessive content. If the salts in the urine exceed a specific norm, this may indicate a malfunction of some organs.
As a rule, before passing a urinalysis, some preparation is required. First of all, the day before the test is strictly forbidden to eat vegetables and fruits that can change the color of urine. And you can not take diuretic drugs. Before taking the test, you need to carry out hygienic procedures for cleaning the genitals. This is due to the fact that sweat gland microorganisms can enter the urine. Women should not be tested for urine during their period. You need to give morning urine.
You can try to diagnose salts in the urine, the symptoms of which are manifested in the form of pain or an impurity of blood, by conducting so-called quantitative urinary tests (additional urinalysis, for example, according to Nechiporenko). However, their results can only indicate kidney problems. And the remaining reasons, as a result of which salts appear in the urine, they do not illuminate.
The main criterion for the determination of salts in urine, their concentration and species is only a clinical analysis.
